NIV 18 Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel. NLT 19 Long ago you spoke in a vision to your faithful people. You said, “I have raised up a warrior. I have selected him from the common people to be king. NIV 19 Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: “I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people. NLT 20 I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil. NIV 20 I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him. NLT 21 I will steady him with my hand; with my powerful arm I will make him strong. NIV 21 My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him. NLT 22 His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him. NLT 39 You have renounced your covenant with him; you have thrown his crown in the dust. NIV 39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust. NLT 40 You have broken down the walls protecting him and ruined every fort defending him. NIV 40 You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.
