Song of Solomon 2

JUB 1 I am the lily of the field {Heb. Sharon} and the rose of the valleys. NIV 1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. JUB 2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the virgins. NIV 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women. JUB 3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wild, so is my beloved among the sons. I desired to sit under his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. NIV 3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. JUB 4 He brought me to the wine chamber and placed his banner of love over me. NIV 4 Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love. JUB 5 Sustain me with flagons of wine, strengthen me with apples; for I am sick with love. NIV 5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love. JUB 6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me. NIV 6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me. JUB 7 I charge you, O ye virgins of Jerusalem, by the roes and by the hinds of the field that ye not awake nor stir up love, until he pleases. NIV 7 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. JUB 8 The voice of my beloved! behold, he comes leaping over the mountains, skipping over the hills. NIV 8 Listen! My beloved! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. JUB 9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart; behold, he stands behind our wall; he looks through the windows, blossoming through the lattice. NIV 9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. JUB 10 My beloved spoke and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. NIV 10 My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. JUB 11 For, behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone; NIV 11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. JUB 12 the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the song is come, and the voice of the turtle dove has been heard in our land; NIV 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. JUB 13 the fig tree has put forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. NIV 13 The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” JUB 14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is beautiful. NIV 14 My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. JUB 15 Hunt the foxes for us, the little foxes, that spoil the vines; for our vines are in blossom. NIV 15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. JUB 16 My beloved is mine, and I am his; he feeds among the lilies. NIV 16 My beloved is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies. JUB 17 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, return, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether. NIV 17 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the rugged hills.
