Acts 2:22-47

CSB 22 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know. NIV 22 “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. CSB 23 Though He was delivered up according to God's determined plan and foreknowledge, you used lawless people to nail Him to a cross and kill Him. NIV 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. CSB 24 God raised Him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it. NIV 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. CSB 25 For David says of Him: I saw the Lord ever before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. NIV 25 David said about him: “ ‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. CSB 26 Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh will rest in hope, NIV 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, CSB 27 because You will not leave my soul in Hades, or allow Your Holy One to see decay. NIV 27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. CSB 28 You have revealed the paths of life to me; You will fill me with gladness in Your presence. NIV 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’ CSB 29 "Brothers, I can confidently speak to you about the patriarch David: he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. NIV 29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. CSB 30 Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath to him to seat one of his descendants on his throne. NIV 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. CSB 31 Seeing this in advance, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah: He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay. NIV 31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. CSB 32 "God has resurrected this Jesus. We are all witnesses of this. NIV 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. CSB 33 Therefore, since He has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, He has poured out what you both see and hear. NIV 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. CSB 34 For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says: The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at My right hand NIV 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand CSB 35 until I make Your enemies Your footstool.' NIV 35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” ’ CSB 36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!" NIV 36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” CSB 37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: "Brothers, what must we do?" NIV 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” CSB 38 "Repent," Peter said to them, "and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. NIV 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. CSB 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call." NIV 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” CSB 40 And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, "Be saved from this corrupt generation!" NIV 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” CSB 41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them. NIV 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. CSB 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayers. NIV 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. CSB 43 Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. NIV 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. CSB 44 Now all the believers were together and had everything in common. NIV 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. CSB 45 So they sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need. NIV 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. CSB 46 And every day they devoted themselves [to meeting] together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, NIV 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, CSB 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved. NIV 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
