CJB 5 Now there were staying in Yerushalayim religious Jews from every nation under heaven. NIV 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. CJB 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd gathered; they were confused, because each one heard the believers speaking in his own language. NIV 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. CJB 7 Totally amazed, they asked, "How is this possible? Aren't all these people who are speaking from the Galil? NIV 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? CJB 8 How is it that we hear them speaking in our native languages? NIV 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? CJB 9 We are Parthians, Medes, Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Y'hudah, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, NIV 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, CJB 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome; NIV 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome CJB 11 Jews by birth and proselytes; Jews from Crete and from Arabia. . . ! How is it that we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great things God has done?" NIV 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
