1 Wǒ wèi zhǔ beì qiú de quàn nǐmen , jìrán méng zhào , xíngshì wéirén jiù dàng yǔ méng zhào de ēn xiāngchèn .

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2 Fán shì qiāxū , wēnróu , rĕnnaì , yòng aì xīn hùxiāng kuānróng ,

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3 Yòng hépíng bǐcǐ liánluò , jiélì bǎoshǒu Shènglíng suǒ cì hé ér wéi yī de xīn .

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4 Shēntǐ zhǐyǒu yī ge , Shènglíng zhǐyǒu yī ge , zhèng rú nǐmen méng zhào , tóng yǒu yī gĕ zhǐwang ,

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
5 Yī zhǔ , yī xìn , yī xǐ ,

one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 Yī shén , jiù shì zhòngrén de fù , chāo hū zhòngrén zhī shǎng , guàn hū zhòngrén zhī zhōng , yĕ zhù zaì zhòngrén zhī neì .

one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
8 Suǒyǐ jīng shǎng shuō , tā shēng shang gāo tiān de shíhou , lǔlǜe le chóudí , jiāng gèyàng de ēncì shǎng gĕi rén .

This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.”

(What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions ?
10 Nà jiàng xià de , jiù shì yuǎn shēng zhū tiān zhī shàng yào chōngmǎn wàn yǒude)

He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)
11 Tā suǒ cì de yǒu shǐtú , yǒu xiānzhī . yǒu chuán fúyin de . yǒu mù shī hé jiào shī .

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,
12 Wèi yào chéngquán shèngtú , gè jìn qí zhí , jiànlì Jīdū de shēntǐ .

to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
13 Zhí dĕng dào wǒmen zhòngrén zaì zhēn dào shang tóng guīyú yī , rènshi shén de érzi , déyǐ zhǎngdà chéng rén , mǎn yǒu Jīdū cháng chéng de shēnliang .

until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Shǐ wǒmen bú zaì zuò xiǎo háizi , zhòng le rén de guǐjì , hé qīpiàn de fǎshù , beì yīqiè yì jiào zhī fēng yáodòng , piāo lái piāo qù , jiù suícóng gèyàng de yìduān .

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.
15 Wéi yòng aì xīn shuō chéngshí huà , fán shì zhǎngjìn , lián yú yuánshǒu Jīdū .

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
16 Quán shēn dōu kào tā liánluò de hé shì , bǎi jié gè àn gè zhí , zhào zhe gè tǐ de gōng yòng , bǐcǐ xiāng zhù , biàn jiào shēntǐ jiànjiàn zēngzhǎng , zaì aì zhōng jiànlì zìjǐ .

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
17 Suǒyǐ wǒ shuō , qiĕ zaì zhǔ lǐ quèshí de shuō , nǐmen xíngshì , búyào zaì xiàng waìbāngrén cún xūwàng de xīn xíngshì .

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.
18 Tāmen xīn dì hūn meì , yǔ shén suǒ cì de shēngmìng géjué le , dōu yīn zìjǐ wúzhī , xīnli gāng yìng .

They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
19 Liángxīn jìrán sàng jìn , jiù fàngzòng sīyù , tān xíng zhǒng zhǒng de wūhuì .

Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
20 Nǐmen xué le Jīdū , què bú shì zhèyàng .

That, however, is not the way of life you learned
21 Rúguǒ nǐmen tīng guo tāde dào , lǐng le tāde jiào , xué le tāde zhēnlǐ ,

when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
22 Jiù yào tuō qù nǐmen cóng qián xíngwéi shang de jiù rén . zhè jiù rén shì yīn sīyù de míhuò , jiànjiàn biàn huaì de .

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
23 Yòu yào jiāng nǐmen de xīnzhì gǎihuàn yī xīn .

to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
24 Bìngqiĕ chuān shǎng xīn rén . zhè xīn rén shì zhào zhe shén de xíngxiàng zào de , yǒu zhēn lǐ de rényì , hé shèngjié .

and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
25 Suǒyǐ nǐmen yào qìjué huǎng yán , gèrén yǔ línshè shuō shí huà . yīnwei wǒmen shì hùxiāng wéi zhī tǐ .

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
26 Shēngqì què búyào fàn zuì . bùkĕ Hán nù dào rìluò .

“In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 Yĕ bùkĕ gĕi móguǐ liú dìbù .

and do not give the devil a foothold.
28 Cóng qián tōuqiè de , búyào zaì tōu . zǒng yào laólì , qīn shǒu zuò zhèng jing shì , jiù kĕ yǒuyú fēn gĕi nà quē shǎo de rén . wǒmen gōngzuò bú jǐn shì wèi wǒmen zìjǐ , yĕ yīngdāng wèi biérén .

Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
29 Wūhuì de yányǔ , yī jù bùkĕ chukǒu , zhǐyào suí shì shuō zào jiù rén de hǎo huà , jiào tīngjian de rén dé yìchu .

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
30 Búyào jiào shén de Shènglíng dān yōu . nǐmen yuán shì shòu le tāde yìn jì , dĕnghòu dé shú de rìzi lái dào .

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Yīqiè kǔ dú , nǎo hèn , fèn nù , nāng nào , huǐbàng , bìng yīqiè de èdú , ( huò zuò yīn dú ) dōu dàng cóng nǐmen zhōngjiān chúdiào .

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
32 Bìng yào yǐ ēncí xiāng daì , cún liánmǐn de xīn , bǐcǐ raóshù , zhèng rú shén zaì Jīdū lǐ raóshù le nǐmen yíyàng .

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
