16 Va’, aduna tutti i Giudei che si ritrovano in Susan, e digiunate per me, e non mangiate, nè bevete di tre dì, nè di giorno, nè di notte; io ancora, insieme con le mie serventi, digiunerò simigliantemente; e poi appresso entrerò dal re, benchè ciò non sia secondo la legge; e se pur perisco, perirò.

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
