1 Un llamado a la justicia<br />»No esparzas rumores falsos. No te hagas cómplice de gente malvada cuando tengas que jurar en el estrado de los testigos.

2 »No te dejes llevar por la mayoría en su maldad. Cuando te llamen a testificar en un pleito, no te dejes influir por la multitud para torcer la justicia.

3 Tampoco inclines tu testimonio en favor de una persona solo porque sea pobre.

4 »Si encuentras extraviado el buey o el burro de tu enemigo, devuélveselo a su dueño.

5 Si ves que el burro de alguien que te odia cayó debajo de su carga, no pases de largo. Detente y ayúdalo.

6 »Ante una demanda judicial, no le negarás la justicia al pobre.

7 »Asegúrate que nunca acuses a nadie falsamente de algún mal. Jamás condenes a muerte a una persona inocente o intachable, porque yo nunca declaro inocente al culpable.

8 »No aceptes sobornos, porque el soborno te lleva a hacerte de la vista gorda en aquello que ves con claridad. El soborno mueve incluso a una persona justa a tergiversar la verdad.

9 »No oprimas a los extranjeros. Tú sabes lo que es ser extranjero, porque tú también fuiste extranjero en la tierra de Egipto.

10 »Siembra y recoge tus cosechas durante seis años,

11 pero el séptimo año deja que la tierra se renueve y descanse sin cultivar. Permite que la gente pobre de tu pueblo coseche lo que crezca por sí mismo durante ese año. Deja el resto para que coman los animales salvajes. Haz lo mismo con tus viñedos y olivares.

12 »Tienes seis días en la semana para hacer tu trabajo habitual, pero el séptimo día dejarás de trabajar. Así tu buey y tu burro podrán descansar, y también recobrarán sus fuerzas tus esclavos y los extranjeros que vivan en medio de ti.

13 »Presta mucha atención a todas mis instrucciones. No invoques el nombre de ningún otro dios; ni siquiera menciones sus nombres.

14 Tres festivales anuales<br />»Cada año, deberás celebrar tres festivales en mi honor.

15 En primer lugar, celebra el Festival de los Panes sin Levadura. Durante siete días, prepararás sin levadura el pan que comas, tal como yo te ordené. Celebra este festival cada año, en el tiempo señalado, a comienzos de la primavera, en el mes de <br /> porque en esa fecha se cumple el aniversario de tu salida de Egipto. Nadie podrá presentarse ante mí sin una ofrenda.

16 »En segundo lugar, celebra el Festival de la Cosecha<br /> cuando me traigas los primeros frutos de tus cosechas.<br />»Por último, celebra el Festival de la Cosecha Final<br /> cuando termine la temporada de la cosecha, una vez que hayas cosechado todos los cultivos de tus campos.

17 Cada año, en estas tres ocasiones anuales, todo hombre de Israel deberá presentarse delante del Soberano, el Señor<br />.

18 »No ofrezcas la sangre de mis sacrificios con ningún tipo de pan que contenga levadura. Tampoco dejes hasta la mañana siguiente la grasa de las ofrendas del festival.

19 »Cuando recojas tus cosechas, lleva a la casa del Señor<br /> tu Dios lo mejor de la primera cosecha.<br />»No cocines a un cabrito en la leche de su madre.

20 Promesa de la presencia del Señor<br />»Mira, yo envío un ángel delante de ti para que te proteja en el viaje y te lleve a salvo al lugar que te he preparado.

21 Préstale mucha atención y obedece sus instrucciones. No te rebeles contra él, porque es mi representante y no perdonará tu rebelión.

22 Pero si te aseguras de obedecerlo y sigues todas mis instrucciones, entonces yo seré enemigo de tus enemigos y me opondré a todos los que se te opongan.

23 Pues mi ángel irá delante de ti y te llevará a la tierra de los amorreos, de los hititas, de los ferezeos, de los cananeos, de los heveos y de los jebuseos, para que vivas en ella. Yo los destruiré por completo.

24 No rindas culto a los dioses de estas naciones, ni los sirvas de ninguna manera, ni imites sus prácticas malvadas. En cambio, destruye sus ídolos por completo y destroza sus columnas sagradas.

25 »Sirve sólo al Señor<br /> tu Dios. Si lo haces, yo te bendeciré<br /> con alimento y agua, y te protegeré de enfermedades.

26 No habrá en tu tierra ninguna mujer que pierda su embarazo o sea estéril; te daré una vida larga y plena.

27 »Enviaré mi terror delante de ti y sembraré pánico entre todos los pueblos de las tierras que invadas. Haré que todos tus enemigos den la vuelta y salgan corriendo.

28 Mandaré terror<br /> delante de ti para expulsar a los heveos, a los cananeos y a los hititas;

29 pero no los expulsaré a todos en un solo año, porque la tierra quedaría desierta y los animales salvajes se multiplicarían y serían una amenaza para ti.

30 Los expulsaré poco a poco, hasta que tu población aumente lo suficiente para tomar posesión de la tierra.

31 Y estableceré los límites de tu territorio desde el mar Rojo hasta el mar Mediterráneo,<br /> y desde el desierto oriental hasta el río Éufrates.<br /> Entregaré en tus manos a los pueblos que ahora viven en esa tierra, y tú los expulsarás a tu paso.

32 »No hagas tratados con ellos ni con sus dioses.

33 Ninguno de ellos deberá vivir en tu tierra, porque te harán pecar contra mí. Si sirves a sus dioses, quedarás apresado en la trampa de la idolatría».

1 “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.

2 “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

3 and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.

4 “If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it.

5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.

6 “Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

7 Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.

8 “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.

9 “Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.

10 “For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops,

11 but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.

12 “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.

13 “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.

14 “Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.

15 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt. “No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

16 “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field. “Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.

17 “Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD.

18 “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast. “The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning.

19 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God. “Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.

21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.

22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

23 My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.

24 Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces.

25 Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,

26 and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.

27 “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.

28 I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.

29 But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you.

30 Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.

31 “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you.

32 Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.

33 Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”
