1 Yēhéhuá de huà yòu líndào wǒ shuō ,

The word of the LORD came to me:
2 Nǐmen zaì Yǐsèliè dì zĕnme yòng zhè súyǔ shuō fùqin chī le suān pútào , érzi de yá suān dǎo le ne .

“What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: “ ‘The parents eat sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?
3 Zhǔ Yēhéhuá shuō , wǒ zhǐ zhe wǒde yǒngshēng qǐshì , nǐmen zaì Yǐsèliè zhōng , bì bú zaì yǒu yòng zhè súyǔ de yīnyóu .

“As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.
4 Kàn nǎ , shìrén dōu shì shǔ wǒde . wèi fù de zĕnyàng shǔ wǒ , wèi zǐ de yĕ zhàoyàng shǔ wǒ . fàn zuì de , tā bì sǐwáng .

For everyone belongs to me, the parent as well as the child—both alike belong to me. The one who sins is the one who will die.
5 Rén ruò shì gōngyì , qiĕ xíng zhèngzhí yǔ hélǐ de shì ,

“Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.
6 Wèicéng zaì shān shang chī guō jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù , wèicéng yǎngwàng Yǐsèliè jiā de ǒuxiàng , wèicéng diànwū línshè de qī , wèicéng zaì fùrén de jīng qī neì qīnjìn tā ,

He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or have sexual relations with a woman during her period.
7 Wèicéng kuīfù rén , nǎi jiāng qiàn zhaì zhī rén de dāng tóu:5 hái gĕi tā . wèicéng qiǎngduó rén de wùjiàn , què jiāng shíwù gĕi jīè de rén chī , jiāng yīfu gĕi chì shēn de rén chuān .

He does not oppress anyone, but returns what he took in pledge for a loan. He does not commit robbery but gives his food to the hungry and provides clothing for the naked.
8 Wèicéng xiàng jiè qián de dìxiōng qǔ lì , yĕ wèicéng xiàng jiè liáng de dìxiōng duō yào , suō shǒu bú zuò zuìniè , zaì liǎng rén zhī jiān , àn zhì lǐ pànduàn .

He does not lend to them at interest or take a profit from them. He withholds his hand from doing wrong and judges fairly between two parties.
9 Zūnxíng wǒde lǜ lì , jǐn shǒu wǒde diǎnzhāng , àn chéngshí xíngshì zhè rén shì gōngyì de , bìdéng cún huó . zhè shì zhǔ Yēhéhuá shuō de .

He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign LORD.
10 Tā ruò shēng yī gè érzi , zuò qiángdào , shì liú rén xuè de , bù xíng yǐshàng suǒ shuō zhī shàn , fǎn xíng qízhōng zhī è , nǎi zaì shān shang chī guō jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù , bìng diànwū línshè de qī ,

“Suppose he has a violent son, who sheds blood or does any of these other things

(though the father has done none of them): “He eats at the mountain shrines. He defiles his neighbor’s wife.
12 Kuīfù kùnkǔ hé qióngfá de rén , qiǎngduó rén de wù , wèicéng jiāng dāngtóu:5 huán gĕi rén , yǎngwàng ǒuxiàng , bìng xíng kĕ zēng de shì ,

He oppresses the poor and needy. He commits robbery. He does not return what he took in pledge. He looks to the idols. He does detestable things.
13 Xiàng jiè qián de dìxiōng qǔ lì , xiàng jiè liáng de dìxiōng duō yào zhè rén qǐnéng cún huó ne . tā bì bùnéng cún huó . tā xíng zhè yīqiè kĕ zēng de shì , bìyào sǐwáng , tāde zuì ( yuánwén zuò xuè ) bì guī dào tā shēnshang .

He lends at interest and takes a profit. Will such a man live? He will not! Because he has done all these detestable things, he is to be put to death; his blood will be on his own head.
14 Tā ruò shēng yī gè érzi , jiàn fùqin suǒ fàn de yīqiè zuì biàn jùpà ( yǒu gǔ juǎn zuò sī liáng ) , bù zhàoyàng qù zuò .

“But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things:
15 Wèicéng zaì shān shang chī guō jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù , wèicéng yǎngwàng Yǐsèliè jiā de ǒuxiàng , wèicéng diànwū línshè de qī ,

16 Wèicéng kuīfù rén , wèicéng qǔ rén de dāngtóu , wèicéng qiǎngduó rén de wùjiàn , què jiāng shíwù gĕi jīè de rén chī , jiāng yīfu gĕi chì shēn de rén chuān ,

17 Suō shǒu bù haì pínqióng rén , wèicéng xiàng jiè qián de dìxiōng qǔ lì , yĕ wèicéng xiàng jiè liáng de dìxiōng duō yào . tā shùncóng wǒde diǎnzhāng , zūnxíng wǒde lǜ lì , jiù bú yīn fùqin de zuìniè sǐwáng , déng yào cún huó .

He withholds his hand from mistreating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.
18 Zhìyú tā fùqin . yīnwei qī rén taì shén , qiǎngduó dìxiōng , zaì bĕn guó de mín zhōng xíng bú shàn , tā bì yīn zìjǐ de zuìniè sǐwáng .

But his father will die for his own sin, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people.
19 Nǐmen hái shuō , érzi wèihé bù dāndāng fùqin de zuìniè ne . érzi xíng zhèngzhí yǔ hélǐ de shì , jǐn shǒu zūnxíng wǒde yīqiè lǜ lì , tā bìdéng cún huó .

“Yet you ask, ‘Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live.
20 Wéiyǒu fàn zuì de , tā bì sǐwáng . érzi bì bú dāndāng fùqin de zuìniè , fùqin yĕ b4 dāndāng érzi de zuìniè . yì rén de shàn guǒ bì guī zìjǐ , è rén de è bào yĕ bì guī zìjǐ .

The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.
21 È rén ruò huí tóu líkāi suǒ zuò de yīqiè zuìè , jǐn shǒu wǒ yīqiè de lǜ lì ,xíng zhèngzhí yǔ hélǐ de shì , tā bìdéng cún huó , bù zhì sǐwáng .

“But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.
22 Tā suǒ fàn de yīqiè zuì guō dōu bú beì jìniàn , yīn suǒ xíng de yì , tā bì cún huó .

None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live.
23 Zhǔ Yēhéhuá shuō , è rén sǐwáng , qǐ shì wǒ xǐyuè de ma . bú shì xǐyuè tā huí tóu líkāi suǒ xíng de dào cún huó ma .

Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
24 Yì rén ruò zhuǎn lí yì xíng ér zuò zuìniè , zhào zhe è rén suǒ xíng yīqiè kĕ zēng de shì ér xíng , tā qǐnéng cún huó ma . tā suǒ xíng de yīqiè yì dōu bú beì jìniàn . tā bì yīn suǒ fàn de zuì , suǒ xíng de è sǐwáng .

“But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.
25 Nǐmen hái shuō , zhǔ de dào bú gōngping . Yǐsèliè jiā a , nǐmen dāng tīng , wǒde dào qǐbù gōngping ma . nǐmen de dào qǐbù shì bú gōngping ma .

“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
26 Yì rén ruò zhuǎn lí yì xíng ér zuò zuìniè sǐwáng , tā shì yīn suǒ zuò de zuìniè sǐwáng .

If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die.
27 Zaìzhĕ , è rén ruò huí tóu líkāi suǒ xíng de è , xíng zhèngzhí yǔ hélǐ de shì , tā bìjiāng xìngméng jiùhuó le .

But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.
28 Yīnwei tā sāi liáng , huí tóu líkāi suǒ fàn de yīqiè zuì guō , bìdéng cún huó , bù zhì sǐwáng .

Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die.
29 Yǐsèliè jiā hái shuō , zhǔ de dào bù gōngping . Yǐsèliè jiā a , wǒde dào qǐbù gōngping ma . nǐmen de dào qǐbù shì bù gōngping ma .

Yet the Israelites say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are my ways unjust, people of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
30 Suǒyǐ zhǔ Yēhéhuá shuō , Yǐsèliè jiā a , wǒ bì àn nǐmen gèrén suǒ xíng de shĕnpàn nǐmen . nǐmen dāng huí tóu líkāi suǒ fàn de yīqiè zuì guo . zhèyàng , zuìniè bì bú shǐ nǐmen baì wú .

“Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.
31 Nǐmen yào jiāng suǒ fàn de yīqiè zuì guo jìn xíng pāo qì , zì zuò yī gè xīn xīn hé xīn líng . Yǐsèliè jiā a , nǐmen hébì sǐwáng ne .

Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?
32 Zhǔ Yēhéhuá shuō , wǒ bù xǐyuè nà sǐ rén zhī sǐ , suǒyǐ nǐmen dāng huí tóu ér cún huó .

For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!
