Genesis 15:1-4

NLT 1 Some time later, the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” NIV 1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. ” NLT 2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth. NIV 2 But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” NLT 3 You have given me no descendants of my own, so one of my servants will be my heir.” NIV 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” NLT 4 Then the LORD said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.” NIV 4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”
