Genesis 17:15-27

ESV 15 And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. NIV 15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. ESV 16 I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her." NIV 16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.” ESV 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, "Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" NIV 17 Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” ESV 18 And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before you!" NIV 18 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!” ESV 19 God said, "No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him. NIV 19 Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. ESV 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. NIV 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. ESV 21 But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year." NIV 21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.” ESV 22 When he had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham. NIV 22 When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him. ESV 23 Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all those born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him. NIV 23 On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him. ESV 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. NIV 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, ESV 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. NIV 25 and his son Ishmael was thirteen; ESV 26 That very day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised. NIV 26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that very day. ESV 27 And all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him. NIV 27 And every male in Abraham’s household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.
