Genesis 19:28-38

GW 28 When he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land in the plain, he saw smoke rising from the land like the thick smoke of a furnace. NIV 28 He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace. GW 29 When God destroyed the cities on the plain, he remembered Abraham. Lot was allowed to escape from the destruction that came to the cities where he was living. NIV 29 So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived. GW 30 Lot left Zoar because he was afraid to stay there. He and his two daughters settled in the mountains where they lived in a cave. NIV 30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. GW 31 The older daughter said to the younger one, "Our father is old. No men are here. We can't get married as other people do. NIV 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children—as is the custom all over the earth. GW 32 Let's give our father wine to drink. Then we'll go to bed with him so that we'll be able to preserve our family line through our father." NIV 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.” GW 33 That night they gave their father wine to drink. Then the older one went to bed with her father. He didn't know when she came to bed or when she got up. NIV 33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. GW 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger one, "I did it! Last night I went to bed with my father. Let's give him wine to drink again tonight. Then you go to bed with him so that we'll be able to preserve our family line through our father." NIV 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” GW 35 That night they gave their father wine to drink again. Then the younger one went to bed with him. He didn't know when she came to bed or when she got up. NIV 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. GW 36 So Lot's two daughters became pregnant by their father. NIV 36 So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father. GW 37 The older one gave birth to a son and named him Moab. He is the ancestor of the Moabites of today. NIV 37 The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab ; he is the father of the Moabites of today. GW 38 The younger daughter also gave birth to a son and named him Ben Ammi. He is the ancestor of the Ammonites of today. NIV 38 The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi ; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.
