13 And Leah said, "Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed." And she called his name Asher [that is, Happy].
13 Then Leah said, “How happy I am! The women will call me happy.” So she named him Asher.
14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, "Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes."
14 During wheat harvest, Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants, which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”
15 But she said unto her, "Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? And wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also?" And Rachel said, "Therefore he shall lie with thee tonight, for thy son's mandrakes."
15 But she said to her, “Wasn’t it enough that you took away my husband? Will you take my son’s mandrakes too?” “Very well,” Rachel said, “he can sleep with you tonight in return for your son’s mandrakes.”
16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him and said, "Thou must come in unto me, for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes." And he lay with her that night.
16 So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. “You must sleep with me,” she said. “I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he slept with her that night.
17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob the fifth son.
17 God listened to Leah, and she became pregnant and bore Jacob a fifth son.
18 And Leah said, "God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband." And she called his name Issachar [that is, A hire].
18 Then Leah said, “God has rewarded me for giving my servant to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.
19 And Leah conceived again and bore Jacob the sixth son.
19 Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son.
20 And Leah said, "God hath endued me with a good dowry. Now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons." And she called his name Zebulun [that is, Dwelling].
20 Then Leah said, “God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor, because I have borne him six sons.” So she named him Zebulun.
21 And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah [that is, Judgment].
21 Some time later she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.
22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her and opened her womb.
22 Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive.
23 And she conceived and bore a son, and said, "God hath taken away my reproach."
23 She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, “God has taken away my disgrace.”
