1 Yǎgè jǔmù guānkàn , jiàn Yǐsǎo lái le , hòutou gēn zhe sì bǎi rén , tā jiù bǎ háizi men fēnkāi jiāo gĕi Lìyà , Lājié , hé liǎng gè shǐnǚ ,

Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants.
2 Bìngqiĕ jiào liǎng gè shǐnǚ hé tāmen de háizi zaì qiántou , Lìyà hé tāde háizi zaì hòutou , Lājié hé Yūesè zaì jìn hòutou .

He put the female servants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear.

He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother.

But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.
5 Yǐsǎo jǔmù kànjian fùrén háizi , jiù shuō , zhèxie hé nǐ tóngxíng de shì shuí ne , Yǎgè shuō , zhèxie háizi shì shén shī ēn gĕi nǐde púrén de .

Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked. Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.”

Then the female servants and their children approached and bowed down.

Next, Leah and her children came and bowed down. Last of all came Joseph and Rachel, and they too bowed down.
8 Yǐsǎo shuō , wǒ suǒ yùjiàn de zhèxie qún chù shì shénme yìsi ne , Yǎgè shuō , shì yào zaì wǒ zhǔ miànqián mĕng ēn de .

Esau asked, “What’s the meaning of all these flocks and herds I met?” “To find favor in your eyes, my lord,” he said.
9 Yǐsǎo shuō , xiōngdi a , wǒde yǐjing gòu le , nǐde réng guī nǐ ba .

But Esau said, “I already have plenty, my brother. Keep what you have for yourself.”
10 Yǎgè shuō , bú rán , wǒ ruò zaì nǐ yǎnqián mĕng ēn , jiù qiú nǐ cóng wǒ shǒu lǐ shōu xià zhè lǐwù . yīnwei wǒ jiàn le nǐde miàn , rútóng jiàn le shén de miàn , bìngqiĕ nǐ róngnà le wǒ .

“No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably.
11 Qiú nǐ shōu xià wǒ daì lái gĕi nǐde lǐwù . yīnwei shén ēn daì wǒ , shǐ wǒ chōngzú . Yǎgè zaì sān dì qiú tā , tā cái shōu xià le .

Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need.” And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it.
12 Yǐsǎo shuō , wǒmen kĕyǐ qǐshēn qián wàng , wǒ zaì nǐ qiántou zǒu .

Then Esau said, “Let us be on our way; I’ll accompany you.”
13 Yǎgè duì tā shuō , wǒ zhǔ zhīdào háizi men nián yòu jiāonèn , niú yáng yĕ zhèngzaì rǔ de shíhou , ruò shì cuī gǎn yī tiān , qún chù dōu bì sǐ le .

But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender and that I must care for the ewes and cows that are nursing their young. If they are driven hard just one day, all the animals will die.
14 Qiú wǒ zhǔ zaì púrén qiántou zǒu , wǒ yào liàng zhe zaì wǒ miànqián qún chù hé háizi de lìliang màn màn dì qián xíng , zhí zǒu dào Xīĕr wǒ zhǔ nàli .

So let my lord go on ahead of his servant, while I move along slowly at the pace of the flocks and herds before me and the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.”
15 Yǐsǎo shuō , róng wǒ bǎ gēnsuí wǒde rén liú jǐ gè zaì nǐ zhèlǐ . Yǎgè shuō , hébì ne , zhǐyào zaì wǒ zhǔ yǎnqián mĕng ēn jiù shì le .

Esau said, “Then let me leave some of my men with you.” “But why do that?” Jacob asked. “Just let me find favor in the eyes of my lord.”
16 Yúshì , Yǐsǎo dàng rì qǐ xíng , huí wàng Xīĕr qù le .

So that day Esau started on his way back to Seir.
17 Yǎgè jiù wàng Shūgē qù , zaì nàli wèi zìjǐ gaìzào fángwū , yòu wèi shēngchù dā péng . yīncǐ nà dìfang míng jiào Shūgē ( jiù shì péng de yìsi ) .

Jacob, however, went to Sukkoth, where he built a place for himself and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place is called Sukkoth.
18 Yǎgè cóng Bādànyàlán huí lái de shíhou , píng píngān ān dì dào le Jiānán dì de Shìjiàn chéng , zaì chéng dōng zhī dā zhàngpéng ,

After Jacob came from Paddan Aram, he arrived safely at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city.
19 Jiù yòng yī bǎi kuaì yínzi xiàng Shìjiàn de fùqin , Hāmā de zǐsūn mǎi le zhī zhàngpéng de nà kuaì dì ,

For a hundred pieces of silver, he bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, the plot of ground where he pitched his tent.
20 Zaì nàli zhù le yī zuò tán , qǐmíng jiào YīlìyīluóyīYǐsèliè ( jiù shì shén , Yǐsèliè shén de yìsi ) .

There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel.
