Genesis 33:1-8

JUB

NIV

1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, Esau came and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah and unto Rachel and unto the two handmaids.
1 Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children in front, and Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph last.
2 He put the female servants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear.
3 And he passed over in front of them and bowed himself to the ground seven times until he came near to his brother.
3 He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.
4 But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children whom God hath graciously given thy slave.
5 Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked. Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.”
6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
6 Then the female servants and their children approached and bowed down.
7 And Leah also with her children came near and bowed themselves; and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they also bowed themselves.
7 Next, Leah and her children came and bowed down. Last of all came Joseph and Rachel, and they too bowed down.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all these droves which I met? And he said, To find grace in the sight of my lord.
8 Esau asked, “What’s the meaning of all these flocks and herds I met?” “To find favor in your eyes, my lord,” he said.
