NAS 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed , has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden '?" NIV 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” NAS 2 The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; NIV 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, NAS 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.' " NIV 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” NAS 4 The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die! NIV 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. NAS 5 "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." NIV 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” NAS 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. NIV 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. NAS 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. NIV 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
