Genesis 44:17-27

GNTA 17 Joseph said, "Oh, no! I would never do that! Only the one who had the cup will be my slave. The rest of you may go back safe and sound to your father." NIV 17 But Joseph said, “Far be it from me to do such a thing! Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave. The rest of you, go back to your father in peace.” GNTA 18 Judah went up to Joseph and said, "Please, sir, allow me to speak with you freely. Don't be angry with me; you are like the king himself. NIV 18 Then Judah went up to him and said: “Pardon your servant, my lord, let me speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself. GNTA 19 Sir, you asked us, "Do you have a father or another brother?' NIV 19 My lord asked his servants, ‘Do you have a father or a brother?’ GNTA 20 We answered, "We have a father who is old and a younger brother, born to him in his old age. The boy's brother is dead, and he is the only one of his mother's children still alive; his father loves him very much.' NIV 20 And we answered, ‘We have an aged father, and there is a young son born to him in his old age. His brother is dead, and he is the only one of his mother’s sons left, and his father loves him.’ GNTA 21 Sir, you told us to bring him here, so that you could see him, NIV 21 “Then you said to your servants, ‘Bring him down to me so I can see him for myself.’ GNTA 22 and we answered that the boy could not leave his father; if he did, his father would die. NIV 22 And we said to my lord, ‘The boy cannot leave his father; if he leaves him, his father will die.’ GNTA 23 Then you said, "You will not be admitted to my presence again unless your youngest brother comes with you.' NIV 23 But you told your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.’ GNTA 24 "When we went back to our father, we told him what you had said. NIV 24 When we went back to your servant my father, we told him what my lord had said. GNTA 25 Then he told us to return and buy a little food. NIV 25 “Then our father said, ‘Go back and buy a little more food.’ GNTA 26 We answered, "We cannot go; we will not be admitted to the man's presence unless our youngest brother is with us. We can go only if our youngest brother goes also.' NIV 26 But we said, ‘We cannot go down. Only if our youngest brother is with us will we go. We cannot see the man’s face unless our youngest brother is with us.’ GNTA 27 Our father said to us, "You know that my wife Rachel bore me only two sons. NIV 27 “Your servant my father said to us, ‘You know that my wife bore me two sons.
