1 Advertencia para no desviarse del camino<br />Así que debemos prestar mucha atención a las verdades que hemos oído, no sea que nos desviemos de ellas.

2 Pues el mensaje que Dios transmitió mediante los ángeles se ha mantenido siempre firme, y toda infracción de la ley y todo acto de desobediencia recibió el castigo que merecía.

3 Entonces, ¿qué nos hace pensar que podemos escapar si descuidamos esta salvación tan grande, que primeramente fue anunciada por el mismo Señor Jesús y luego nos fue transmitida por quienes lo oyeron hablar?

4 Además, Dios confirmó el mensaje mediante señales, maravillas, diversos milagros y dones del Espíritu Santo según su voluntad.

5 Jesús, el hombre<br />Es más, no son los ángeles quienes gobernarán el mundo futuro del cual hablamos,

6 porque en cierto lugar las Escrituras dicen:<br />«¿Qué son los simples mortales para que pienses en ellos,<br />o el hijo del hombre<br /> para que te preocupes por él?

7 Sin embargo, lo hiciste un poco menor que los ángeles<br />y lo coronaste de gloria y honor.

8 Le diste autoridad sobre todas las cosas»<br />.<br />Ahora bien, cuando dice «todas las cosas», significa que nada queda afuera; pero todavía no vemos que todas las cosas sean puestas bajo su autoridad.

9 No obstante, lo que sí vemos es a Jesús, a quien se le dio una posición «un poco menor que los ángeles»; y debido a que sufrió la muerte por nosotros, ahora está «coronado de gloria y honor». Efectivamente, por la gracia de Dios, Jesús conoció la muerte por todos.

10 Dios —para quien y por medio de quien todo fue hecho— eligió llevar a muchos hijos a la gloria. Convenía a Dios que, mediante el sufrimiento, hiciera a Jesús un líder perfecto, apto para llevarlos a la salvación.

11 Por lo tanto, Jesús y los que él hace santos tienen el mismo Padre. Por esa razón, Jesús no se avergüenza de llamarlos sus hermanos,

12 pues le dijo a Dios:<br />«Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos.<br />Entre tu pueblo reunido te alabaré»<br />.

13 También dijo:<br />«Pondré mi confianza en él»,<br />es decir, «yo y los hijos que Dios me dio»<br />.

14 Debido a que los hijos de Dios son seres humanos —hechos de carne y sangre— el Hijo también se hizo de carne y sangre. Pues solo como ser humano podía morir y solo mediante la muerte podía quebrantar el poder del diablo, quien tenía<br /> el poder sobre la muerte.

15 Únicamente de esa manera el Hijo podía libertar a todos los que vivían esclavizados por temor a la muerte.

16 También sabemos que el Hijo no vino para ayudar a los ángeles, sino que vino para ayudar a los descendientes de Abraham.

17 Por lo tanto, era necesario que en todo sentido él se hiciera semejante a nosotros, sus hermanos,<br /> para que fuera nuestro Sumo Sacerdote fiel y misericordioso, delante de Dios. Entonces podría ofrecer un sacrificio que quitaría los pecados del pueblo.

18 Debido a que él mismo ha pasado por sufrimientos y pruebas, puede ayudarnos cuando pasamos por pruebas.

1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

2 For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

5 It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.

6 But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him?

7 You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor

8 and put everything under their feet.”In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.

9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.

11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

12 He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.”

13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.”And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”

14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—

15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.

17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
