1 Burla contra el rey de Babilonia<br />Pero el Señor<br /> tendrá misericordia de los descendientes de Jacob y una vez más elegirá a Israel como su pueblo especial. Lo hará regresar para que se establezca otra vez en su propia tierra. Y gente de varias naciones vendrá para encontrarse con ellos y unirse al pueblo de Israel.

The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob.
2 Las naciones del mundo ayudarán a que el pueblo del Señor<br /> regrese, y los que vengan a vivir en su tierra los servirán. Los que conquistaron a Israel, ellos mismos serán capturados, e Israel gobernará a sus enemigos.

Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And Israel will take possession of the nations and make them male and female servants in the LORD’s land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.
3 En aquel día maravilloso cuando el Señor<br /> le dé descanso a su pueblo de sus angustias y temores, de la esclavitud y de las cadenas,

On the day the LORD gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labor forced on you,
4 te mofarás del rey de Babilonia y dirás:<br />«El hombre poderoso ha sido destruido.<br />Sí, se acabó tu insolencia.

you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!
5 Pues el Señor<br /> aplastó tu poder malvado<br />y puso fin a tu reino perverso.

The LORD has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,
6 Atacabas al pueblo con incesantes golpes de furia<br />y dominabas a las naciones dentro de tu poder sofocante<br />con una tiranía implacable.

which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression.
7 Sin embargo, finalmente la tierra está en reposo y tranquila.<br />¡Ahora puede volver a cantar!

All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing.
8 Hasta los árboles del bosque<br />—los cipreses y los cedros del Líbano—<br />cantan esta alegre canción:<br />“¡Dado que te talaron,<br />nadie vendrá ahora para talarnos a nosotros!”.

Even the junipers and the cedars of Lebanon gloat over you and say, “Now that you have been laid low, no one comes to cut us down.”
9 »En el lugar de los muertos<br /> hay mucha emoción<br />por tu llegada.<br />Los espíritus de los líderes mundiales y de los reyes poderosos que murieron hace tiempo<br />se ponen de pie para verte llegar.

The realm of the dead below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you— all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from their thrones— all those who were kings over the nations.
10 Todos exclaman a una voz:<br />“¡Ahora eres tan débil como nosotros!

They will all respond, they will say to you, “You also have become weak, as we are; you have become like us.”
11 Tu poder y tu fuerza fueron enterrados contigo.<br />En tu palacio ha cesado el sonido del arpa.<br />Ahora los gusanos son tu sábana<br />y las lombrices, tu manta”.

All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you.
12 »¡Cómo has caído del cielo,<br />oh estrella luciente, hijo de la mañana!<br />Has sido arrojado a la tierra,<br />tú que destruías a las naciones del mundo.

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!
13 Pues te decías a ti mismo:<br />“Subiré al cielo para poner mi trono por encima de las estrellas de Dios.<br />Voy a presidir en el monte de los dioses,<br />muy lejos en el norte.

You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.
14 Escalaré hasta los cielos más altos<br />y seré como el Altísimo”.

I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
15 En cambio, serás bajado al lugar de los muertos,<br />a las profundidades más hondas.

But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
16 Allí todos te mirarán y se preguntarán:<br />“¿Puede ser este el que sacudía la tierra<br />y hacía temblar a los reinos del mundo?

Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble,
17 ¿Es este el que destruyó el mundo<br />y lo convirtió en una tierra baldía?<br />¿Es este el rey que demolía las grandes ciudades del mundo<br />y no tenía compasión de sus prisioneros?”.

the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?”
18 »Los reyes de las naciones yacen en gloria majestuosa,<br />cada cual en su propia tumba,

All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb.
19 pero tú serás sacado de tu sepultura<br />como una rama inútil.<br />Como un cadáver pisoteado bajo los pies,<br />serás arrojado a una fosa común<br />con los que murieron en batalla.<br />Descenderás al abismo.

But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch; you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit. Like a corpse trampled underfoot,
20 No te darán un entierro apropiado,<br />porque destruiste a tu nación<br />y masacraste a tu pueblo.<br />Los descendientes de una persona tan malvada<br />nunca más recibirán honra.

you will not join them in burial, for you have destroyed your land and killed your people. Let the offspring of the wicked never be mentioned again.
21 ¡Maten a los hijos de este hombre!<br />¡Que mueran por los pecados de su padre!<br />Que no se levanten para conquistar la tierra,<br />y llenar el mundo con sus ciudades».

Prepare a place to slaughter his children for the sins of their ancestors; they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities.
22 Esto dice el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales:<br />«¡Yo, yo mismo me he levantado contra Babilonia!<br />Destruiré a sus hijos, y a los hijos de sus hijos<br />—dice el Señor<br />—.

“I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD Almighty. “I will wipe out Babylon’s name and survivors, her offspring and descendants,” declares the LORD.
23 Convertiré a Babilonia en un lugar desolado, tierra de búhos,<br />lleno de pantanos y de ciénagas;<br />barreré la tierra con la escoba de la destrucción.<br />¡Yo, el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales, he hablado!».

“I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the LORD Almighty.
24 Mensaje acerca de Asiria<br />El Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales hizo este juramento:<br />«Sucederá tal como yo lo tengo planeado.<br />Será tal como lo he decidido.

The LORD Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.
25 Quebrantaré a los asirios cuando estén en Israel;<br />los pisotearé en mis montañas.<br />Mi pueblo ya no será más esclavo de ellos<br />ni se doblará ante sus cargas pesadas.

I will crush the Assyrian in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.”
26 Tengo un plan para toda la tierra,<br />una mano de juicio sobre todas las naciones.

This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations.
27 El Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales ha hablado;<br />¿quién podrá cambiar sus planes?<br />Cuando levante su mano,<br />¿quién lo podrá detener?».

For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?
28 Mensaje acerca de Filistea<br />Recibí este mensaje en el año que murió el rey Acaz:

This prophecy came in the year King Ahaz died:
29 Ustedes, filisteos, no se alegren<br />de que la vara que los golpeaba se haya roto;<br />de que el rey que los atacaba esté muerto.<br />Pues de esa serpiente nacerá otra serpiente aún más venenosa,<br />¡una serpiente terrible que los destruirá!

Do not rejoice, all you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken; from the root of that snake will spring up a viper, its fruit will be a darting, venomous serpent.
30 Alimentaré a los pobres en mis pastos;<br />los necesitados se acostarán en paz.<br />En cuanto a ustedes, los aniquilaré con el hambre<br />y destruiré a los pocos que queden.

The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy will lie down in safety. But your root I will destroy by famine; it will slay your survivors.
31 ¡Giman en las puertas! ¡Lloren en las ciudades!<br />¡Paralícense de miedo, filisteos!<br />Un poderoso ejército viene como humo desde el norte;<br />cada soldado avanza con prisa, ansioso por pelear.

Wail, you gate! Howl, you city! Melt away, all you Philistines! A cloud of smoke comes from the north, and there is not a straggler in its ranks.
32 ¿Qué les diremos a los mensajeros de los filisteos? Diles:<br />«El Señor<br /> edificó a Jerusalén;<br />sus murallas brindarán refugio a su pueblo oprimido».

What answer shall be given to the envoys of that nation? “The LORD has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.”
