1 Mensaje acerca de Damasco e Israel<br />Recibí este mensaje acerca de Damasco:<br />«¡Miren! ¡La ciudad de Damasco desaparecerá!<br />Se convertirá en un montón de escombros.

2 Las ciudades de Aroer quedarán desiertas.<br />Las manadas pastarán en las calles y se echarán sin que nada las perturbe,<br />sin que nadie las espante.

3 Las ciudades fortificadas de Israel<br /> también serán destruidas,<br />y se acabará el poder de la realeza de Damasco.<br />Todo lo que quede de Aram<br />tendrá el mismo destino de la desaparecida gloria de Israel»,<br />proclama el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales.

4 «En aquel día, la gloria de Israel<br /> se desvanecerá,<br />su robusto cuerpo se irá consumiendo.

5 Toda la tierra parecerá un campo de grano<br />después de que los segadores han recogido el cereal.<br />Estará desolada,<br />como los campos del valle de Refaim después de la cosecha.

6 Solo quedarán unos cuantos de su pueblo,<br />como aceitunas sueltas en un olivo después de la cosecha.<br />Solo dos o tres quedan en las ramas más altas,<br />cuatro o cinco esparcidas aquí y allá entre las restantes»,<br />proclama el Señor<br />, Dios de Israel.

7 Entonces, por fin el pueblo buscará a su Creador<br />y volverá los ojos al Santo de Israel.

8 Ya no buscarán ayuda de sus ídolos,<br />ni rendirán culto a lo que hicieron con sus propias manos.<br />Nunca más se inclinarán ante los postes dedicados a la diosa Asera,<br />ni rendirán culto en los santuarios paganos que construyeron.

9 Sus ciudades más grandes quedarán como bosques desiertos;<br />como la tierra que abandonaron<br /> los heveos y los amorreos<br />cuando llegaron los israelitas, hace ya mucho tiempo.<br />Estarán totalmente desoladas.

10 ¿Por qué? Porque te has apartado del Dios que puede salvarte.<br />Te has olvidado de la Roca que puede esconderte.<br />Así que tal vez plantes las mejores vides<br />e importes los tallos más costosos.

11 Tal vez echen retoños en el día que las trasplantes.<br />Sí, hasta es posible que florezcan la misma mañana que las plantes,<br />pero nunca recogerás ni una uva de ellas.<br />Su única cosecha será una carga de aflicción y de dolor continuo.

12 ¡Escuchen! Los ejércitos de muchas naciones<br />rugen como los bramidos del mar.<br />Escuchen el trueno de sus fuerzas poderosas<br />que avanzan como olas estruendosas.

13 Pero aunque rujan como las olas grandes de la playa,<br />Dios los hará callar y huirán<br />como la paja que esparce el viento;<br />como los arbustos que ruedan antes de una tormenta.

14 En la noche, Israel espera aterrado;<br />pero al amanecer, sus enemigos están muertos.<br />Esta es la justa recompensa para quienes nos saquean;<br />un final apropiado para quienes nos destruyen.

New International Version NIV

1 A prophecy against Damascus: “See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.

2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one to make them afraid.

3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,” declares the LORD Almighty.

4 “In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away.

5 It will be as when reapers harvest the standing grain, gathering the grain in their arms— as when someone gleans heads of grain in the Valley of Rephaim.

6 Yet some gleanings will remain, as when an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches, four or five on the fruitful boughs,” declares the LORD, the God of Israel.

7 In that day people will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.

8 They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands, and they will have no regard for the Asherah polesand the incense altars their fingers have made.

9 In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.

10 You have forgotten God your Savior; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress. Therefore, though you set out the finest plants and plant imported vines,

11 though on the day you set them out, you make them grow, and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud, yet the harvest will be as nothing in the day of disease and incurable pain.

12 Woe to the many nations that rage— they rage like the raging sea! Woe to the peoples who roar— they roar like the roaring of great waters!

13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a gale.

14 In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning, they are gone! This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
