1 Mensaje acerca de Tiro<br />Este es el mensaje que recibí acerca de Tiro:<br />¡Lloren, oh naves de Tarsis,<br />porque quedaron destruidos el puerto y las casas de Tiro!<br />Los rumores que oyeron en Chipre<br />son ciertos.

2 Laméntense en silencio, gente de la costa,<br />y ustedes, mercaderes de Sidón.<br />Sus comerciantes cruzaban el mar;

3 navegando sobre aguas profundas;<br />les traían granos desde Egipto<br />y cosechas de todo el Nilo.<br />Ustedes eran el mercado del mundo.

4 Pero ahora tú pasas vergüenza, ciudad de Sidón,<br />porque Tiro, la fortaleza del mar, dice:<br />«Ahora estoy sin hijos;<br />no tengo hijos ni hijas».

5 Cuando en Egipto oigan la noticia acerca de Tiro,<br />habrá gran dolor.

6 ¡Avisen ahora a Tarsis!<br />¡Giman, ustedes que viven en tierras lejanas!

7 Con la larga historia que tenían ustedes,<br />¿son estas silenciosas ruinas lo único que queda de su ciudad, antes tan llena de alegría?<br />Piensen en toda la gente que enviaron para establecerse en lugares distantes.

8 ¿Quién hizo caer este desastre sobre Tiro,<br />la gran fundadora de reinos?<br />Sus comerciantes eran todos príncipes;<br />sus mercaderes, nobles.

9 El Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales lo hizo<br />para destruir tu orgullo<br />y dejar por el suelo a toda la nobleza de la tierra.

10 Vengan, habitantes de Tarsis,<br />arrasen la tierra como el Nilo en sus inundaciones,<br />porque Tiro está indefensa.

11 El Señor<br /> extendió su mano sobre el mar<br />y sacudió los reinos de la tierra.<br />Él se ha pronunciado contra Fenicia,<br />ordenó que fueran destruidas sus fortalezas.

12 Él dice: «Nunca más volverás a alegrarte,<br />hija de Sidón, porque has sido aplastada.<br />Aunque huyas a Chipre,<br />no encontrarás descanso».

13 Miren a la tierra de Babilonia,<br />¡la gente de esa tierra ha desaparecido!<br />Los asirios han entregado a Babilonia<br />a los animales salvajes del desierto.<br />Levantaron rampas de asalto contra sus muros,<br />derribaron los palacios<br />y convirtieron la ciudad en un montón de escombros.

14 ¡Giman, oh barcos de Tarsis,<br />porque su puerto está destruido!

15 Durante setenta años, el tiempo que dura la vida de un rey, Tiro será olvidada; pero luego la ciudad volverá a la vida, como en la canción acerca de la prostituta:

16 Toma un arpa y camina por las calles,<br />ramera olvidada;<br />entona una dulce melodía y canta tus canciones<br />para que te vuelvan a recordar.

17 Así es, después de setenta años, el Señor<br /> devolverá la vida a Tiro; pero no será distinta de lo que era antes. Volverá a ser una prostituta para todos los reinos del mundo.

18 Sin embargo, al final, sus ganancias le serán entregadas al Señor<br />. Sus riquezas no serán acumuladas, sino que darán buenos alimentos y vestidos de buena calidad a los sacerdotes del Señor<br />.

1 A prophecy against Tyre: Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus word has come to them.

2 Be silent, you people of the island and you merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarers have enriched.

3 On the great waters came the grain of the Shihor; the harvest of the Nile was the revenue of Tyre, and she became the marketplace of the nations.

4 Be ashamed, Sidon, and you fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken: “I have neither been in labor nor given birth; I have neither reared sons nor brought up daughters.”

5 When word comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report from Tyre.

6 Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you people of the island.

7 Is this your city of revelry, the old, old city, whose feet have taken her to settle in far-off lands?

8 Who planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are renowned in the earth?

9 The LORD Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.

10 Till your land as they do along the Nile, Daughter Tarshish, for you no longer have a harbor.

11 The LORD has stretched out his hand over the sea and made its kingdoms tremble. He has given an order concerning Phoenicia that her fortresses be destroyed.

12 He said, “No more of your reveling, Virgin Daughter Sidon, now crushed! “Up, cross over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest.”

13 Look at the land of the Babylonians,this people that is now of no account! The Assyrians have made it a place for desert creatures; they raised up their siege towers, they stripped its fortresses bare and turned it into a ruin.

14 Wail, you ships of Tarshish; your fortress is destroyed!

15 At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king’s life. But at the end of these seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute:

16 “Take up a harp, walk through the city, you forgotten prostitute; play the harp well, sing many a song, so that you will be remembered.”

17 At the end of seventy years, the LORD will deal with Tyre. She will return to her lucrative prostitution and will ply her trade with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.

18 Yet her profit and her earnings will be set apart for the LORD; they will not be stored up or hoarded. Her profits will go to those who live before the LORD, for abundant food and fine clothes.
