James 1:13-18

CEB 13 No one who is tested should say, "God is tempting me!" This is because God is not tempted by any form of evil, nor does he tempt anyone. NIV 13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; CEB 14 Everyone is tempted by their own cravings; they are lured away and enticed by them. NIV 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. CEB 15 Once those cravings conceive, they give birth to sin; and when sin grows up, it gives birth to death. NIV 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. CEB 16 Don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. NIV 16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. CEB 17 Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all. NIV 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. CEB 18 He chose to give us birth by his true word, and here is the result: we are like the first crop from the harvest of everything he created. NIV 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
