Job 18:6-16

GNTA

NIV

6 The lamp in their tents will be darkened.
6 The light in his tent becomes dark; the lamp beside him goes out.
7 Their steps were firm, but now they stumble; they fall - victims of their own advice.
7 The vigor of his step is weakened; his own schemes throw him down.
8 They walk into a net, and their feet are caught;
8 His feet thrust him into a net; he wanders into its mesh.
9 a trap catches their heels and holds them.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare holds him fast.
10 On the ground a snare is hidden; a trap has been set in their path.
10 A noose is hidden for him on the ground; a trap lies in his path.
11 All around them terror is waiting; it follows them at every step.
11 Terrors startle him on every side and dog his every step.
12 They used to be rich, but now they go hungry; disaster stands and waits at their side.
12 Calamity is hungry for him; disaster is ready for him when he falls.
13 A deadly disease spreads over their bodies and causes their arms and legs to rot.
13 It eats away parts of his skin; death’s firstborn devours his limbs.
14 They are torn from the tents where they lived secure, and are dragged off to face King Death.
14 He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.
15 Now anyone may live in their tents - after sulfur is sprinkled to disinfect them!
15 Fire resides in his tent; burning sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.
16 Their roots and branches are withered and dry.
16 His roots dry up below and his branches wither above.
