1 Shūyà rén Bǐlèdá huídá shuō ,

Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
2 Zhèxie huà nǐ yào shuō dào jǐshí . kǒu zhōng de yányǔ rú kuángfēng yào dào jǐshí ne .

“How long will you say such things? Your words are a blustering wind.
3 Shén qǐnéng piānlí gōngping . quánnéng zhĕ qǐnéng piānlí gōngyì .

Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?
4 Huòzhĕ nǐde érnǚ dé zuì le tā , tā shǐ tāmen shòu bàoyìng .

When your children sinned against him, he gave them over to the penalty of their sin.
5 Nǐ ruò yīnqín dì xúnqiú shén , xiàng quánnéng zhĕ kĕnqiú .

But if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty,
6 Nǐ ruò qīngjié zhèngzhí , tā bìdéng wèi nǐ qǐlai , shǐ nǐ gōngyì de jū suǒ xīngwàng .

if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state.
7 Nǐ qǐchū suīrán wēi xiǎo , zhōngjiǔ bì shén fā dá .

Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.
8 Qǐng nǐ kǎo wèn qián daì , zhuī niàn tāmende lièzǔ suǒ zhā jiū de .

“Ask the former generation and find out what their ancestors learned,
9 Wǒmen bú guō cóng zuòrì cái yǒu , yī wú suǒ zhī . wǒmen zaì shì de rìzi hǎoxiàng yǐngér .

for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow.
10 Tāmen qǐbù zhǐjiào nǐ , gàosu nǐ , cóng xīnli fāchū yányǔ lái ne .

Will they not instruct you and tell you? Will they not bring forth words from their understanding?
11 Púcǎo méiyǒu ní , qǐnéng fā zhǎng . lú dí méiyǒu shuǐ , qǐnéng shēng fā .

Can papyrus grow tall where there is no marsh? Can reeds thrive without water?
12 Shàng qīng de shíhou , hái méiyǒu gē xià , bǐ bǎi yàng de cǎo xiān kū gǎo .

While still growing and uncut, they wither more quickly than grass.
13 Fán wàngjì shén de rén , jǐngkuàng yĕ shì zhèyàng . bú qiánjìng rén de zhǐwang yào miè mò .

Such is the destiny of all who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.
14 Tā suǒ yǎng laì de bì zhé duàn , tā suǒ yǐkào de shì zhī zhū wǎng .

What they trust in is fragile ; what they rely on is a spider’s web.
15 Tā yào yǐkào fángwū , fángwū què zhàn lì bù zhù . tā yào zhuāzhù fángwū , fángwū què bùnéng cún liú .

They lean on the web, but it gives way; they cling to it, but it does not hold.
16 Tā zaì rì guāng zhī xià fā qīng , mán zǐ pá mǎn le yuánzi .

They are like a well-watered plant in the sunshine, spreading its shoots over the garden;
17 Tāde gēn pán rǎo shí duī , zhá rù shí dì .

it entwines its roots around a pile of rocks and looks for a place among the stones.
18 Tā ruò cóng bĕn dì beì bá chū , nà dì jiù bú rènshi tā , shuō , wǒ méiyǒu jiàn guō nǐ .

But when it is torn from its spot, that place disowns it and says, ‘I never saw you.’
19 Kàn nǎ , zhè jiù shì tā dào zhōng zhī lè . yǐhòu bì Lìng yǒu rén cóng dì ér shēng .

Surely its life withers away, and from the soil other plants grow.
20 Shén bì bù diūqì wánquán rén , yĕ bù fúzhù xiéè rén .

“Surely God does not reject one who is blameless or strengthen the hands of evildoers.
21 Tā hái yào yǐ xǐlè chōngmǎn nǐde kǒu , yǐ huānhū chōngmǎn nǐde zuǐ.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
22 Hèn è nǐde yào pī daì cánkuì . è rén de zhàngpéng , bì guī wú yǒu .

Your enemies will be clothed in shame, and the tents of the wicked will be no more.”
