John 13:21-38

GNT 21 After Jesus had said this, he was deeply troubled and declared openly, "I am telling you the truth: one of you is going to betray me." NIV 21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.” GNT 22 The disciples looked at one another, completely puzzled about whom he meant. NIV 22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. GNT 23 One of the disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was sitting next to Jesus. NIV 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. GNT 24 Simon Peter motioned to him and said, "Ask him whom he is talking about." NIV 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” GNT 25 So that disciple moved closer to Jesus' side and asked, "Who is it, Lord?" NIV 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?” GNT 26 Jesus answered, "I will dip some bread in the sauce and give it to him; he is the man." So he took a piece of bread, dipped it, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. NIV 26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. GNT 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "Hurry and do what you must!" NIV 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” GNT 28 None of the others at the table understood why Jesus said this to him. NIV 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. GNT 29 Since Judas was in charge of the money bag, some of the disciples thought that Jesus had told him to go and buy what they needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. NIV 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. GNT 30 Judas accepted the bread and went out at once. It was night. NIV 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. GNT 31 After Judas had left, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man's glory is revealed; now God's glory is revealed through him. NIV 31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. GNT 32 And if God's glory is revealed through him, then God will reveal the glory of the Son of Man in himself, and he will do so at once. NIV 32 If God is glorified in him,God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. GNT 33 My children, I shall not be with you very much longer. You will look for me; but I tell you now what I told the Jewish authorities, "You cannot go where I am going.' NIV 33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. GNT 34 And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. NIV 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. GNT 35 If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples." NIV 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” GNT 36 "Where are you going, Lord?" Simon Peter asked him. "You cannot follow me now where I am going," answered Jesus; "but later you will follow me." NIV 36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” GNT 37 "Lord, why can't I follow you now?" asked Peter. "I am ready to die for you!" NIV 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” GNT 38 Jesus answered, "Are you really ready to die for me? I am telling you the truth: before the rooster crows you will say three times that you do not know me. NIV 38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
