John 13:5-20

NAS 5 Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. NIV 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. NAS 6 So He came to Simon Peter. He said to Him, "Lord , do You wash my feet?" NIV 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” NAS 7 Jesus answered and said to him, "What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter ." NIV 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” NAS 8 Peter said to Him, "Never shall You wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me." NIV 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” NAS 9 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord , then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head." NIV 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” NAS 10 Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you." NIV 10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” NAS 11 For He knew the one who was betraying Him; for this reason He said, "Not all of you are clean." NIV 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. NAS 12 So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? NIV 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. NAS 13 "You call Me Teacher and Lord ; and you are right, for so I am. NIV 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. NAS 14 "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. NIV 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. NAS 15 "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. NIV 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. NAS 16 "Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. NIV 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. NAS 17 "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. NIV 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. NAS 18 "I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have chosen; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'HE WHO EATS MY BREAD HAS LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST ME.' NIV 18 “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turnedagainst me.’ NAS 19 "From now on I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I am He. NIV 19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. NAS 20 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me." NIV 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”
