KJV 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? NIV 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” KJV 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. NIV 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. KJV 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. NIV 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. KJV 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. NIV 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” KJV 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. NIV 38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. KJV 39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; NIV 39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, KJV 40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. NIV 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. KJV 41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: NIV 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. KJV 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. NIV 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! KJV 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? NIV 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? KJV 44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. NIV 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
