Mark 11:19-33

GNT 19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples left the city. NIV 19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city. GNT 20 Early next morning, as they walked along the road, they saw the fig tree. It was dead all the way down to its roots. NIV 20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. GNT 21 Peter remembered what had happened and said to Jesus, "Look, Teacher, the fig tree you cursed has died!" NIV 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!” GNT 22 Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. NIV 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. GNT 23 I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. NIV 23 “TrulyI tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. GNT 24 For this reason I tell you: When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for. NIV 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. GNT 25 And when you stand and pray, forgive anything you may have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive the wrongs you have done." NIV 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” GNT 27 They arrived once again in Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests, the teachers of the Law, and the elders came to him NIV 27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. GNT 28 and asked him, "What right do you have to do these things? Who gave you such right?" NIV 28 “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?” GNT 29 Jesus answered them, "I will ask you just one question, and if you give me an answer, I will tell you what right I have to do these things. NIV 29 Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. GNT 30 Tell me, where did John's right to baptize come from: was it from God or from human beings?" NIV 30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!” GNT 31 They started to argue among themselves: "What shall we say? If we answer, "From God,' he will say, "Why, then, did you not believe John?' NIV 31 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ GNT 32 But if we say, "From human beings . . .' " (They were afraid of the people, because everyone was convinced that John had been a prophet.) NIV 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) GNT 33 So their answer to Jesus was, "We don't know." Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you, then, by what right I do these things." NIV 33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
