CEB 1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the tomb. NIV 1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. CEB 2 Look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel from the Lord came down from heaven. Coming to the stone, he rolled it away and sat on it. NIV 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. CEB 3 Now his face was like lightning and his clothes as white as snow. NIV 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. CEB 4 The guards were so terrified of him that they shook with fear and became like dead men. NIV 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. CEB 5 But the angel said to the women, "Don't be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. NIV 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. CEB 6 He isn't here, because he's been raised from the dead, just as he said. Come, see the place where they laid him. NIV 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. CEB 7 Now hurry, go and tell his disciples, ‘He's been raised from the dead. He's going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.' I've given the message to you." NIV 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” CEB 8 With great fear and excitement, they hurried away from the tomb and ran to tell his disciples. NIV 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. CEB 9 But Jesus met them and greeted them. They came and grabbed his feet and worshipped him. NIV 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. CEB 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid. Go and tell my brothers that I am going into Galilee. They will see me there." NIV 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
