1 Zhēngyuè jiàn , Yǐsèliè quánhuì zhòng dào le xún de kuàngyĕ , jiù zhù zaì Jiādīsī . Mǐlìàn sǐ zaì nàli , jiù zàng zaì nàli .

In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried.
2 Huì zhòng méiyǒu shuǐ hē , jiù jùjí gōngjī Móxī , Yàlún .

Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.
3 Bǎixìng xiàng Móxī zhēng nào shuō , wǒmen de dìxiōng céng sǐ zaì Yēhéhuá miànqián , wǒmen hènbude yǔ tāmen tóng sǐ .

They quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the LORD!
4 Nǐmen wèihé bǎ Yēhéhuá de huì zhòng lǐng dào zhè kuàngyĕ , shǐ wǒmen hé shēngchù dōu sǐ zaì zhèlǐ ne ,

Why did you bring the LORD’s community into this wilderness, that we and our livestock should die here?
5 Nǐmen wèihé bī zhe wǒmen chū Āijí , lǐng wǒmen dào zhè huaì dìfang ne , zhè dìfang bú hǎo sǎzhǒng , yĕ méiyǒu wúhuāguǒ shù , pútàoshù , shíliu shù , yòu méiyǒu shuǐ hē .

Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!”
6 Móxī , Yàlún líkāi huì zhòng , dào huì mù ménkǒu , fǔfú zaì dì . Yēhéhuá de róngguāng xiàng tāmen xiǎnxiàn .

Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the tent of meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
7 Yēhéhuá xiǎoyù Móxī shuō ,

The LORD said to Moses,
8 Nǐ ná zhe zhàng qù , hé nǐde gēge Yàlún zhāo jùhuì zhòng , zaì tāmen yǎnqián fēnfu pánshí fāchū shuǐ lái , shuǐ jiù cóng pánshí liú chū , gĕi huì zhòng hé tāmende shēngchù hē .

“Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.”
9 Yúshì Móxī zhào Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de , cóng Yēhéhuá miànqián qǔ le zhàng qù .

So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as he commanded him.
10 Móxī , Yàlún jiù zhāo jùhuì zhòng dào pánshí qián . Móxī shuō , nǐmen zhèxie beìpàn de rén tīng wǒ shuō , wǒ wéi nǐmen shǐ shuǐ cóng zhè pánshí zhōng liú chūlai ma ,

He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?”
11 Móxī jǔ shǒu , yòng zhàng jī dá pánshí liǎng xià , jiù yǒu xǔduō shuǐ liú chūlai , huì zhòng hé tāmende shēngchù dōu hē le .

Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
12 Yēhéhuá duì Móxī , Yàlún shuō , yīnwei nǐmen bú xìn wǒ , bú zaì Yǐsèliè rén yǎnqián zūn wǒ wéi shèng , suǒyǐ nǐmen bì bùdé lǐng zhè huì zhòng jìn wǒ suǒ cìgĕi tāmende dì qù .

But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
13 Zhè shuǐ míng jiào Mǐlìbā shuǐ ( Mǐlìbā jiù shì zhēng nào de yìsi ) , shì yīn Yǐsèliè rén xiàng Yēhéhuá zhēng nào , Yēhéhuá jiù zaì tāmen miànqián xiǎn wéi shèng .

These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he was proved holy among them.
14 Móxī cóng Jiādīsī chāiqiǎn shǐzhĕ qù jiàn Yǐdōng wáng , shuō , nǐde dìxiōng Yǐsèliè rén zhèyàng shuō , wǒmen suǒ zāoyù de yīqiè jiān nán ,

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “This is what your brother Israel says: You know about all the hardships that have come on us.
15 Jiù shì wǒmen de lièzǔ xià dào Āijí , wǒmen zaì Āijí jiǔ zhù . Āijí rén è daì wǒmen de lièzǔ hé wǒmen ,

Our ancestors went down into Egypt, and we lived there many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our ancestors,
16 Wǒmen āi qiú Yēhéhuá de shíhou , tā tīng le wǒmen de shēngyīn , chāiqiǎn shǐzhĕ bǎ wǒmen cóng Āijí lǐng chūlai . zhè shì nǐ dōu zhīdào . rújīn , wǒmen zaì nǐ biānjiè shàng de chéng Jiādīsī .

but when we cried out to the LORD, he heard our cry and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. “Now we are here at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory.
17 Qiú nǐ róng wǒmen cóng nǐde dì jīngguò . wǒmen bú zǒu tiánjiān hé pútaóyuán , yĕ bú hē jǐng lǐ de shuǐ , zhǐ zǒu dà dào ( yuánwén zuò wáng dào ) , bú piān zuǒyòu , zhídào guō le nǐde jìngjiè .

Please let us pass through your country. We will not go through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the King’s Highway and not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory.”
18 Yǐdōng wáng shuō , nǐ bùkĕ cóng wǒde dì jīngguò , miǎndé wǒ daì dāo chū qù gōngjī nǐ .

But Edom answered: “You may not pass through here; if you try, we will march out and attack you with the sword.”
19 Yǐsèliè rén shuō , wǒmen yào zǒu dà dào shàng qù . wǒmen hé shēngchù ruò hē nǐde shuǐ , bì gĕi nǐ jiàzhí . bú qiú biéde , zhǐ qiú nǐ róng wǒmen bùxíng guō qù .

The Israelites replied: “We will go along the main road, and if we or our livestock drink any of your water, we will pay for it. We only want to pass through on foot—nothing else.”
20 Yǐdōng wáng shuō , nǐmen bùkĕ jīngguò . jiù shuaìlǐng xǔduō rén chūlai , yào yòng qiǎng yìng de shǒu gōngjī Yǐsèliè rén .

Again they answered: “You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.
21 Zhèyàng , Yǐdōng wáng bú kĕn róng Yǐsèliè rén cóng tāde jìngjiè guō qù . yúshì tāmen zhuǎn qù , líkāi tā .

Since Edom refused to let them go through their territory, Israel turned away from them.
22 Yǐsèliè quánhuì zhòng cóng Jiādīsī qǐ xíng , dào le hé Ěr shān .

The whole Israelite community set out from Kadesh and came to Mount Hor.
23 Yēhéhuá zaì fù jìn Yǐdōng biānjiè de hé Ěr shān shàng xiǎoyù Móxī , Yàlún shuō ,

At Mount Hor, near the border of Edom, the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
24 Yàlún yào guī dào tā lièzǔ ( yuánwén zuò bĕn mín ) nàli . tā bì bùdé rù wǒ suǒ cìgĕi Yǐsèliè rén de dì . yīnwei zaì Mǐlìbā shuǐ , nǐmen wéibeì le wǒde méng .

“Aaron will be gathered to his people. He will not enter the land I give the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah.
25 Nǐ daì Yàlún hé tāde érzi YǐlìYàsā shàng hé Ěr shān ,

Get Aaron and his son Eleazar and take them up Mount Hor.
26 Bǎ Yàlún de shèng yì tuō xià lái , gĕi tāde érzi YǐlìYàsā chuān shàng . Yàlún bì sǐ zaì nàli , guī tā lièzǔ .

Remove Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar, for Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will die there.”
27 Móxī jiù zhào Yēhéhuá suǒ fēnfu de xíng . sān rén dàng zhe huì zhòng de yǎnqián shàng le hé Ěr shān .

Moses did as the LORD commanded: They went up Mount Hor in the sight of the whole community.
28 Móxī bǎ Yàlún de shèng yì tuō xià lái , gĕi tāde érzi YǐlìYàsā chuān shàng , Yàlún jiù sǐ zaì shāndǐng nàli . yúshì Móxī hé YǐlìYàsā xià le shān .

Moses removed Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar. And Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain,
29 Quánhuì zhòng , jiù shì Yǐsèliè quán jia , jiàn Yàlún yǐjing sǐ le , biàn dōu wéi Yàlún āikū le sān shí tiān .

and when the whole community learned that Aaron had died, all the Israelites mourned for him thirty days.
