1 Yǐxià yĕ shì Suǒluómén de zhēnyán . shì Yóudà wáng Xīxījiā de rén suǒ téng lù de .

These are more proverbs of Solomon, compiled by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah:
2 Jiāng shì yǐn mì , nǎi shén de róngyào . jiāng shì chá qīng , nǎi jūnwáng de róngyào .

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
3 Tiān zhī gāo , dì zhī hòu , jūnwáng zhī xīn yĕ cè bù tòu .

As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.
4 Chú qù yínzi de zhā zǐ , jiù yǒu yínzi chūlai , yín jiàng néng yǐ zuò qìmǐn .

Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel;

remove wicked officials from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.

Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not claim a place among his great men;
7 Néngkĕ yǒu rén shuō , qǐng nǐ shang lái , jiàng rú zaì nǐ jìn jiàn de wáng zǐ miànqián , jiào nǐ tuì xià .

it is better for him to say to you, “Come up here,” than for him to humiliate you before his nobles. What you have seen with your eyes
8 Búyào mào shī chū qù yǔ rén zhēngjing , miǎndé zhì zhōng beì tā xiūrǔ , nǐ jiù bù zhīdào zĕnyàng xíng le .

do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?
9 Nǐ yǔ línshè zhēng sòng , yào yǔ tā rén biànlùn . bùkĕ xiè lòu rén de mì shì .

If you take your neighbor to court, do not betray another’s confidence,
10 Kǒngpà tīngjian de rén mà nǐ , nǐde chòu míng jiù nányǐ tuōlí .

or the one who hears it may shame you and the charge against you will stand.
11 Yī jù huà shuō dé hé yí , jiù rú jīn píngguǒ zaì yín wǎngzi lǐ .

Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given.
12 Zhìhuì rén de quànjiè , zaì shùncóng de rén ĕr zhōng , hǎoxiàng jīn ĕr huán , hé jīng jīn de zhuāngshì .

Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.
13 Zhōng xìn de shǐzhĕ , jiào chāi tāde rén xīnli shūchàng , jiù rú zaì shōugē shí , yǒu bīng xuĕ de liáng qì .

Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him; he refreshes the spirit of his master.

Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given.
15 Héng cháng rĕnnaì , kĕyǐ quàn dòng jūnwáng . róu hé de shétou , néng zhé duàn gútou .

Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.
16 Nǐ dé le mì ma , zhī kĕ chī gòu ér yǐ . kǒngpà nǐ guō bǎo jiù ǒu tù chūlai .

If you find honey, eat just enough— too much of it, and you will vomit.

Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house— too much of you, and they will hate you.

Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor.
19 Huànnàn shí yǐkào bù zhōng chéng de rén , hǎoxiàng pò huaì de yá , cuò gú fùng de jiǎo .

Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.
20 Duì shāngxīn de rén chàng gē , jiù rú lĕng tiān tuō yīfu , yòu rú jiǎn shang dǎo cù .

Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
21 Nǐde chóudí , ruò è le jiù gĕi tā fàn chī . ruò kĕ le jiù gĕi tā shuǐ hē .

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22 Yīnwei nǐ zhèyàng xíng , jiù shì bǎ tànhuǒ duī zaì tāde tóu shang . Yēhéhuá yĕ bì shǎngcì nǐ .

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.

Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain is a sly tongue—which provokes a horrified look.

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.
26 Yì rén zaì è rén miànqián tuì sù , hǎoxiàng tāng hún zhī quán , lòng zhuó zhī jǐng .

Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.
27 Chī mì guo duō , shì bù hǎo de . kǎo jiū zìjǐ de róngyào , yĕ shì kĕ yàn de .

It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.
