1 El impío huye sin que nadie lo persiga, mas los justos están confiados como un león.

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
2 Por la transgresión de la tierra, muchos son sus príncipes; pero por el hombre entendido y de conocimiento permanece estable.

When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.
3 El pobre que oprime a los humildes es como lluvia torrencial que no deja pan.

A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
4 Los que abandonan la ley alaban a los impíos, pero los que guardan la ley luchan contra ellos.

Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked, but those who heed it resist them.
5 Los hombres malvados no entienden de justicia, mas los que buscan al SEÑOR lo entienden todo.

Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse.

A discerning son heeds instruction, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
8 El que aumenta su riqueza por interés y usura, la recoge para el que se apiada de los pobres.

Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
9 Al que aparta su oído para no oír la ley, su oración también es abominación.

If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.
10 El que extravía a los rectos por el mal camino, en su propia fosa caerá; pero los íntegros heredarán el bien.

Whoever leads the upright along an evil path will fall into their own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
11 El rico es sabio ante sus propios ojos, mas el pobre que es entendido, lo sondea.

The rich are wise in their own eyes; one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.
12 Cuando los justos triunfan, grande es la gloria, pero cuando los impíos se levantan, los hombres se esconden.

When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.
13 El que encubre sus pecados no prosperará, mas el que los confiesa y los abandona hallará misericordia.

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
14 Cuán bienaventurado es el hombre que siempre teme, pero el que endurece su corazón caerá en el infortunio.

Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
15 Cual león rugiente y oso agresivo es el gobernante perverso sobre el pueblo pobre.

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a helpless people.
16 Al príncipe que es gran opresor le falta entendimiento, pero el que odia las ganancias injustas prolongará sus días.

A tyrannical ruler practices extortion, but one who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long reign.
17 El hombre cargado con culpa de sangre humana, fugitivo será hasta la muerte; que nadie lo apoye.

Anyone tormented by the guilt of murder will seek refuge in the grave; let no one hold them back.
18 El que anda en integridad será salvo, mas el que es de camino torcido caerá de repente.

The one whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but the one whose ways are perverse will fall into the pit.
19 El que labra su tierra se saciará de pan, pero el que sigue propósitos vanos se llenará de pobreza.

Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.
20 El hombre fiel abundará en bendiciones, pero el que se apresura a enriquecerse no quedará sin castigo.

A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

To show partiality is not good— yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread.

The stingy are eager to get rich and are unaware that poverty awaits them.
23 El que reprende al hombre hallará después más favor que el que lo lisonjea con la lengua.

Whoever rebukes a person will in the end gain favor rather than one who has a flattering tongue.
24 El que roba a su padre o a su madre y dice: "No es transgresión", es compañero del hombre destructor.

Whoever robs their father or mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is partner to one who destroys.
25 El hombre arrogante suscita rencillas, mas el que confía en el SEÑOR prosperará.

The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the LORD will prosper.
26 El que confía en su propio corazón es un necio, pero el que anda con sabiduría será librado.

Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.
27 El que da al pobre no pasará necesidad, pero el que cierra sus ojos tendrá muchas maldiciones.

Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.
28 Cuando los impíos se levantan, los hombres se esconden; mas cuando perecen, los justos se multiplican.

When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.
