1 (109-1) <A psalm for David.> The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.
1 The LORD says to my lord:“Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”
2 (109-2) The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.
2 The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!”
3 (109-3) With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee.
3 Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.
4 (109-4) The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.
4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
5 (109-5) The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings in the day of his wrath.
5 The Lord is at your right hand ; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
6 (109-6) He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: he shall crush the heads in the land of many.
6 He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.
7 (109-7) He shall drink of the torrent in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
7 He will drink from a brook along the way,and so he will lift his head high.
