NCV 1 Happy are those who live pure lives, who follow the Lord's teachings. NIV 1 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. NCV 2 Happy are those who keep his rules, who try to obey him with their whole heart. NIV 2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— NCV 3 They don't do what is wrong; they follow his ways. NIV 3 they do no wrong but follow his ways. NCV 4 Lord, you gave your orders to be obeyed completely. NIV 4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. NCV 5 I wish I were more loyal in obeying your demands. NIV 5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! NCV 6 Then I would not be ashamed when I study your commands. NIV 6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. NCV 7 When I learned that your laws are fair, I praised you with an honest heart. NIV 7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. NCV 8 I will obey your demands, so please don't ever leave me. NIV 8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. NCV 9 How can a young person live a pure life? By obeying your word. NIV 9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. NCV 10 With all my heart I try to obey you. Don't let me break your commands. NIV 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. NCV 11 I have taken your words to heart so I would not sin against you. NIV 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. NCV 12 Lord, you should be praised. Teach me your demands. NIV 12 Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. NCV 13 My lips will tell about all the laws you have spoken. NIV 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. NCV 14 I enjoy living by your rules as people enjoy great riches. NIV 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. NCV 15 I think about your orders and study your ways. NIV 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. NCV 16 I enjoy obeying your demands, and I will not forget your word. NIV 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. NCV 17 Do good to me, your servant, so I can live, so I can obey your word. NIV 17 Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. NCV 18 Open my eyes to see the miracles in your teachings. NIV 18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. NCV 19 I am a stranger on earth. Do not hide your commands from me. NIV 19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. NCV 20 I wear myself out with desire for your laws all the time. NIV 20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. NCV 21 You scold proud people; those who ignore your commands are cursed. NIV 21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. NCV 22 Don't let me be insulted and hated because I keep your rules. NIV 22 Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. NCV 23 Even if princes speak against me, I, your servant, will think about your demands. NIV 23 Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. NCV 24 Your rules give me pleasure; they give me good advice. NIV 24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. NCV 25 I am about to die. Give me life, as you have promised. NIV 25 I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. NCV 26 I told you about my life, and you answered me. Teach me your demands. NIV 26 I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. NCV 27 Help me understand your orders. Then I will think about your miracles. NIV 27 Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. NCV 28 I am sad and tired. Make me strong again as you have promised. NIV 28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. NCV 29 Don't let me be dishonest; have mercy on me by helping me obey your teachings. NIV 29 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. NCV 30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have obeyed your laws. NIV 30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. NCV 31 I hold on to your rules. Lord, do not let me be disgraced. NIV 31 I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame. NCV 32 I will quickly obey your commands, because you have made me happy. NIV 32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. NCV 33 Lord, teach me your demands, and I will keep them until the end. NIV 33 Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. NCV 34 Help me understand, so I can keep your teachings, obeying them with all my heart. NIV 34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. NCV 35 Lead me in the path of your commands, because that makes me happy. NIV 35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. NCV 36 Make me want to keep your rules instead of wishing for riches. NIV 36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. NCV 37 Keep me from looking at worthless things. Let me live by your word. NIV 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. NCV 38 Keep your promise to me, your servant, so you will be respected. NIV 38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. NCV 39 Take away the shame I fear, because your laws are good. NIV 39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. NCV 40 How I want to follow your orders. Give me life because of your goodness. NIV 40 How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life. NCV 41 Lord, show me your love, and save me as you have promised. NIV 41 May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise; NCV 42 I have an answer for people who insult me, because I trust what you say. NIV 42 then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. NCV 43 Never keep me from speaking your truth, because I depend on your fair laws. NIV 43 Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. NCV 44 I will obey your teachings forever and ever. NIV 44 I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. NCV 45 So I will live in freedom, because I want to follow your orders. NIV 45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. NCV 46 I will discuss your rules with kings and will not be ashamed. NIV 46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, NCV 47 I enjoy obeying your commands, which I love. NIV 47 for I delight in your commands because I love them. NCV 48 I praise your commands, which I love, and I think about your demands. NIV 48 I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. NCV 49 Remember your promise to me, your servant; it gives me hope. NIV 49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. NCV 50 When I suffer, this comforts me: Your promise gives me life. NIV 50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. NCV 51 Proud people always make fun of me, but I do not reject your teachings. NIV 51 The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. NCV 52 I remember your laws from long ago, and they comfort me, Lord. NIV 52 I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. NCV 53 I become angry with wicked people who do not keep your teachings. NIV 53 Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law. NCV 54 I sing about your demands wherever I live. NIV 54 Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. NCV 55 Lord, I remember you at night, and I will obey your teachings. NIV 55 In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law. NCV 56 This is what I do: I follow your orders. NIV 56 This has been my practice: I obey your precepts. NCV 57 Lord, you are my share in life; I have promised to obey your words. NIV 57 You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words. NCV 58 I prayed to you with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you have promised. NIV 58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. NCV 59 I thought about my life, and I decided to follow your rules. NIV 59 I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. NCV 60 I hurried and did not wait to obey your commands. NIV 60 I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. NCV 61 Wicked people have tied me up, but I have not forgotten your teachings. NIV 61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. NCV 62 In the middle of the night, I get up to thank you because your laws are right. NIV 62 At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. NCV 63 I am a friend to everyone who fears you, to anyone who obeys your orders. NIV 63 I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. NCV 64 Lord, your love fills the earth. Teach me your demands. NIV 64 The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees. NCV 65 You have done good things for your servant, as you have promised, Lord. NIV 65 Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. NCV 66 Teach me wisdom and knowledge because I trust your commands. NIV 66 Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. NCV 67 Before I suffered, I did wrong, but now I obey your word. NIV 67 Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. NCV 68 You are good, and you do what is good. Teach me your demands. NIV 68 You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. NCV 69 Proud people have made up lies about me, but I will follow your orders with all my heart. NIV 69 Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. NCV 70 Those people have no feelings, but I love your teachings. NIV 70 Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. NCV 71 It was good for me to suffer so I would learn your demands. NIV 71 It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. NCV 72 Your teachings are worth more to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. NIV 72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. NCV 73 You made me and formed me with your hands. Give me understanding so I can learn your commands. NIV 73 Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. NCV 74 Let those who respect you rejoice when they see me, because I put my hope in your word. NIV 74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. NCV 75 Lord, I know that your laws are right and that it was right for you to punish me. NIV 75 I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. NCV 76 Comfort me with your love, as you promised me, your servant. NIV 76 May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. NCV 77 Have mercy on me so that I may live. I love your teachings. NIV 77 Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. NCV 78 Make proud people ashamed because they lied about me. But I will think about your orders. NIV 78 May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. NCV 79 Let those who respect you return to me, those who know your rules. NIV 79 May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. NCV 80 Let me obey your demands perfectly so I will not be ashamed. NIV 80 May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. NCV 81 I am weak from waiting for you to save me, but I hope in your word. NIV 81 My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. NCV 82 My eyes are tired from looking for your promise. When will you comfort me? NIV 82 My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, “When will you comfort me?” NCV 83 Even though I am like a wine bag going up in smoke, I do not forget your demands. NIV 83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. NCV 84 How long will I live? When will you judge those who are hurting me? NIV 84 How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? NCV 85 Proud people have dug pits to trap me. They have nothing to do with your teachings. NIV 85 The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law. NCV 86 All of your commands can be trusted. Liars are hurting me. Help me! NIV 86 All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. NCV 87 They have almost put me in the grave, but I have not rejected your orders. NIV 87 They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. NCV 88 Give me life by your love so I can obey your rules. NIV 88 In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.
