Psalms 122

MSG

NIV

1 When they said, "Let's go to the house of God," my heart leaped for joy.
1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
2 And now we're here, O Jerusalem, inside Jerusalem's walls!
2 Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem, well-built city, built as a place for worship!
3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together.
4 The city to which the tribes ascend, all God's tribes go up to worship, To give thanks to the name of God - this is what it means to be Israel.
4 That is where the tribes go up— the tribes of the LORD— to praise the name of the LORDaccording to the statute given to Israel.
5 Thrones for righteous judgment are set there, famous David-thrones.
5 There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for Jerusalem's peace! Prosperity to all you Jerusalem-lovers!
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.
7 Friendly insiders, get along! Hostile outsiders, keep your distance!
7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”
8 For the sake of my family and friends, I say it again: live in peace!
8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of our God, God, I'll do my very best for you.
9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.
