Psalm 54

RSVA 1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, "David is in hiding among us." Save me, O God, by thy name, and vindicate me by thy might. NIV 1 Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. RSVA 2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. NIV 2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. RSVA 3 For insolent men have risen against me, ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before them. [Selah] NIV 3 Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me— people without regard for God. RSVA 4 Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. NIV 4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. RSVA 5 He will requite my enemies with evil; in thy faithfulness put an end to them. NIV 5 Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. RSVA 6 With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to thee; I will give thanks to thy name, O LORD, for it is good. NIV 6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good. RSVA 7 For thou hast delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. NIV 7 You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
