Psalm 71

NIRV 1 Lord, I have gone to you for safety. Let me never be put to shame. NIV 1 In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. NIRV 2 You do what is right. Save me and help me. Pay attention to me and save me. NIV 2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. NIRV 3 Be my rock of safety that I can always go to. Give the command to save me. You are my rock and my fort. NIV 3 Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. NIRV 4 My God, save me from the power of sinners. Save me from the hands of those who are mean and evil. NIV 4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel. NIRV 5 You are the King and the Lord. You have always been my hope. I have trusted in you ever since I was young. NIV 5 For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. NIRV 6 From the time I was born I have depended on you. You brought me out of my mother's body. I will praise you forever. NIV 6 From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you. NIRV 7 To many people I am an example of how much you care. You are strong. You are my place of safety. NIV 7 I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. NIRV 8 My mouth is filled with praise for you. All day long I will talk about your glory. NIV 8 My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. NIRV 9 Don't push me away when I'm old. Don't desert me when my strength is gone. NIV 9 Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. NIRV 10 My enemies speak against me. Those who want to kill me get together and make evil plans. NIV 10 For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together. NIRV 11 They say, "God has deserted him. Go after him and grab him. No one will save him." NIV 11 They say, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him.” NIRV 12 God, don't stay so far away from me. My God, come quickly and help me. NIV 12 Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me. NIRV 13 May those who bring charges against me die in shame. May those who want to harm me be covered with shame and dishonor. NIV 13 May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace. NIRV 14 But I will always have hope. I will praise you more and more. NIV 14 As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. NIRV 15 I will say that what you have done is right. All day long I will talk about how you have saved your people. It is more than I can understand. NIV 15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all. NIRV 16 LORD and King, I will come and announce your mighty acts. I will announce that you alone do what is right. NIV 16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. NIRV 17 God, ever since I was young you have taught me about what you have done. To this very day I tell about your wonderful acts. NIV 17 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. NIRV 18 God, don't leave me even when I'm old and have gray hair. Let me live to tell my children about your power. Let me tell all of them about your mighty acts. NIV 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. NIRV 19 God, your saving acts reach to the skies. You have done great things. God, who is like you? NIV 19 Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? NIRV 20 You have sent many bitter troubles my way. But you will give me new life. Even if I'm almost in the grave, you will bring me back. NIV 20 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. NIRV 21 You will honor me more and more. You will comfort me once again. NIV 21 You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. NIRV 22 My God, I will use the harp to praise you because you are always faithful. Holy One of Israel, I will use the lyre to sing praise to you. NIV 22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel. NIRV 23 My lips will shout with joy when I sing praise to you. You have saved me. NIV 23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered. NIRV 24 All day long my tongue will say that you have done what is right. Those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame. They have not been honored. NIV 24 My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.
