Psalm 82

CEB 1 God takes his stand in the divine council; he gives judgment among the gods: NIV 1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods”: CEB 2 "How long will you judge unjustly by granting favor to the wicked? Selah NIV 2 “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? CEB 3 Give justice to the lowly and the orphan; maintain the right of the poor and the destitute! NIV 3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. CEB 4 Rescue the lowly and the needy. Deliver them from the power of the wicked! NIV 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. CEB 5 They don't know; they don't understand; they wander around in the dark. All the earth's foundations shake. NIV 5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. CEB 6 I hereby declare, "You are gods, children of the Most High—all of you! NIV 6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ CEB 7 But you will die like mortals; you will fall down like any prince." NIV 7 But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.” CEB 8 Rise up, God! Judge the earth because you hold all nations in your possession! NIV 8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
