Psalm 83

NAS 1 O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still. NIV 1 O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. NAS 2 For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves. NIV 2 See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. NAS 3 They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones. NIV 3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. NAS 4 They have said, "Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more." NIV 4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.” NAS 5 For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant: NIV 5 With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you— NAS 6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites; NIV 6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, NAS 7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; NIV 7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. NAS 8 Assyria also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah. NIV 8 Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot’s descendants. NAS 9 Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the torrent of Kishon, NIV 9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, NAS 10 Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became as dung for the ground. NIV 10 who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground. NAS 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, NIV 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, NAS 12 Who said, "Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of God." NIV 12 who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.” NAS 13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind. NIV 13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind. NAS 14 Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire, NIV 14 As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, NAS 15 So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm. NIV 15 so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. NAS 16 Fill their faces with dishonor, That they may seek Your name, O LORD . NIV 16 Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name. NAS 17 Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, And let them be humiliated and perish, NIV 17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. NAS 18 That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD , Are the Most High over all the earth. NIV 18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
