1 Dìxiōng men , wǒ xiànzaì duì míngbai lǜfǎ de rén shuō , nǐmen qǐbù xiǎodé lǜfǎ guǎn rén shì zaì huó zhe de shíhou má .

Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives?
2 Jiù rú nǚrén yǒu le zhàngfu , zhàngfu hái huó zhe , jiù beì lǜfǎ yuē shù . zhàngfu ruò sǐ le , jiù tuōlí le zhàngfu de lǜfǎ .

For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.
3 Suǒyǐ zhàngfu huó zhe , tā ruò guīyú biérén , biàn jiào yín fù . zhàngfu ruò sǐ le , tā jiù tuōlí le zhàngfu de lǜfǎ , suīrán guīyú biérén , yĕ bú shì yín fù .

So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.
4 Wǒde dìxiōng men , zhèyàng shuō lái , nǐmen jiè zhe Jīdū de shēntǐ , zaì lǜfǎ shàng yĕ shì sǐ le . jiào nǐmen guīyú biérén , jiù shì guīyú nà cóng sǐ lǐ fùhuó de , jiào wǒmen jié guǒzi gĕi shén .

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
5 Yīnwei wǒmen shǔ ròutǐ de shíhou , nà yīn lǜfǎ ér shēng de èyù , jiù zaì wǒmen zhī tǐ zhōng fādòng , yǐzhì jié chéng sǐwáng de guǒzi .

For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.
6 Dàn wǒmen jìrán zaì kún wǒmen de lǜfǎ shàng sǐ le , xiànjīn jiù tuōlí le lǜfǎ , jiào wǒmen fúshì zhǔ , yào àn zhe xīnlíng ( xīnlíng huò zuò Shènglíng ) de xīn yàng , bú àn zhe yí wén de jiù yàng .

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
7 Zhèyàng , wǒmen kè shuō shénme ne . lǜfǎ shì zuì má . duànhū bú shì . zhǐshì fēi yīn lǜfǎ , wǒ jiù bú zhī hé wéi zuì . fēi lǜfǎ shuō , bùkĕ qǐ tānxīn . wǒ jiù bú zhī hé wéi tānxīn .

What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
8 Ránér zuì chèn zhe jīhuì , jiù jiè zhe jièméng jiào zhū bān de tānxīn zaì wǒ lǐtou fādòng . yīnwei méiyǒu lǜfǎ zuì shì sǐ de .

But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead.
9 Wǒ yǐqián méiyǒu lǜfǎ shì huó zhe de , dànshì jièméng lái dào , zuì yòu huó le , wǒ jiù sǐ le .

Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.
10 Nà bĕnlái jiào rén huó de jièméng , fǎn dǎo jiào wǒ sǐ .

I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.
11 Yīnwei zuì chèn zhe jīhuì , jiù jiè zhe jièméng yǐnyòu wǒ , bìngqiĕ shā le wǒ .

For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.
12 Zhèyàng kàn lái , lǜfǎ shì shèngjié de , jièméng yĕ shì shèngjié , gōngyì , liángshàn de .

So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.
13 Jìrán rúcǐ , nà liángshàn de shì jiào wǒ sǐ má . duànhū bú shì . jiào wǒ sǐ de nǎi shì zuì . dàn zuì jiè zhe nà liángshàn de jiào wǒ sǐ , jiù xiǎn chū zhēn shì zuì . jiào zuì yīn zhe jièméng gēng xiǎn chū shì ĕ jíle .

Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
14 Wǒmen yuán xiǎodé lǜfǎ shì shǔ hū líng de , dàn wǒ shì shǔ hū ròutǐ de , shì yǐjing maì gĕi zuì le .

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
15 Yīnwei wǒ suǒ zuò de , wǒ zìjǐ bú míngbai . wǒ suǒ yuànyì de , wǒ bìng bú zuò . wǒ suǒ hèn ĕ de , wǒ dǎo qù zuò .

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
16 Ruò wǒ suǒ zuò de , shì wǒ suǒ bú yuànyì de , wǒ jiù yìng chéng lǜfǎ shì shàn de .

And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
17 Jì shì zhèyàng , jiù bú shì wǒ zuò de , nǎi shì zhù zaì wǒ lǐtou de zuì zuò de .

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
18 Wǒ yĕ zhīdào , zaì wǒ lǐtou , jiù shì wǒ ròutǐ zhī zhōng , méiyǒu liángshàn . yīnwei lìzhì wéi shàn yóu dé wǒ , zhǐshì xíng chūlai yóu bùdé wǒ .

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
19 Gùcǐ , wǒ suǒ yuànyì de shàn , wǒ fǎn bù zuò . wǒ suǒ bú yuànyì de ĕ , wǒ dǎo qù zuò .

For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
20 Ruò wǒ qù zuò suǒ bú yuànyì zuò de , jiù bú shì wǒ zuò de , nǎi shì zhù zaì wǒ lǐtou de zuì zuò de .

Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 Wǒ juéde yǒu gè lǜ , jiù shì wǒ yuànyì wéi shàn de shíhou , biàn yǒu ĕ yǔ wǒ tóng zaì .

So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
22 Yīnwei àn zhe wǒ lǐmiàn de yìsi . ( yuánwén zuò rén ) wǒ shì xǐhuan shén de lǜ .

For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;
23 Dàn wǒ juéde zhī tǐ zhòng Lìng yǒu gè lǜ , hé wǒ xīn zhòng de lǜ jiāo zhàn , bǎ wǒ lǔ qù jiào wǒ fù cóng nà zhī tǐ zhōng fàn zuì de lǜ .

but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.
24 Wǒ zhēn shì kǔ a , shuí néng jiù wǒ tuōlí zhè qǔ sǐ de shēntǐ ne .

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
25 Gǎnxiè shén , kào zhe wǒmen de zhǔ Yēsū Jīdū jiù néng tuōlí le zhèyàng kàn lái , wǒ yǐ neì xīn shùnfú shén de lǜ . wǒ ròushēn què shùnfú zuì de lǜ le .

Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
