Zacharias 6

LXX

NIV

1 And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, four chariots coming out from between two mountains; and the mountains were brazen mountains.
1 I looked up again, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains—mountains of bronze.
2 In the first chariot red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;
2 The first chariot had red horses, the second black,
3 and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot piebald ash-coloured horses.
3 the third white, and the fourth dappled—all of them powerful.
4 And I answered and said to the angel that talked with me, What are these, my Lord?
4 I asked the angel who was speaking to me, “What are these, my lord?”
5 And the angel that talked with me answered and said, These are the four winds of heaven, they are going forth to stand before the Lord of all the earth.
5 The angel answered me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world.
6 in which were the black horses, they went out to the land of the north; and the white went out after them; and the piebald went out to the land of the south.
6 The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”
7 And the ash-coloured went out, and looked to go and compass the earth: and he said, Go, and compass the earth. And they compassed the earth.
7 When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth. And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.
8 And he cried out and spoke to me, saying, Behold, these go out to the land of the north, and they have quieted mine anger in the land of the north.
8 Then he called to me, “Look, those going toward the north country have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north.”
9 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
9 The word of the LORD came to me:
10 Take the things of the captivity from the chief men, and from the useful men of it, and from them that have understood it; and thou shalt enter in that day into the house of Josias the son of Sophonias that came out of Babylon.
10 “Take silver and gold from the exiles Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon. Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
11 And thou shalt take silver and gold, and make crowns, and thou shalt put upon the head of Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest;
11 Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak.
12 and thou shalt say to him, Thus saith the Lord Almighty; Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall spring up from his stem, and build the house of the Lord.
12 Tell him this is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD.
13 And he shall receive power, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and there shall be a priest on his right hand, and a peaceable counsel shall be between both.
13 It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’
14 And the crown shall be to them that wait patiently, and to the useful men of the captivity, and to them that have known it, and for the favour of the son of Sophonias, and for a psalm in the house of the Lord.
14 The crown will be given to Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of the LORD.
15 And they far from them shall come and build in the house of the Lord, and ye shall know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you: and shall come to pass, if ye will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God.
15 Those who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the LORD your God.”
