Andwhen the sevendays were almostended , the Jews which were ofAsia, when they sawhimin the temple, stirred upall the people,andlaidhandsonhim,

Crying out , Men of Israel,help : Thisis the man, that teachethall men every whereagainst the people,and the law,andthisplace:andfurtherbroughtGreeksalsointo the temple,and hath pollutedthisholyplace.

(For they had seen beforewithhimin the cityTrophimus an Ephesian,whom they supposedthatPaul had broughtinto the temple.)

Andall the city was moved , and the people ran together* : and they tookPaul, and drewhim out of the temple:andforthwith the doors were shut .

And as they went about to killhim,tidingscame unto the chief captain of the band,thatallJerusalem was in an uproar .

Whoimmediatelytooksoldiersandcenturions, and ran downuntothem:and when they saw the chief captainand the soldiers, they leftbeating of Paul.

Then the chief captain came near , and tookhim,andcommanded him to be bound withtwochains;anddemandedwho he was* , andwhat he haddone .

Andsomecried one thing, some another,among the multitude:and when he couldnotknow the certaintyfor the tumult, he commandedhim to be carriedinto the castle.

Andwhen he cameupon the stairs, so it was , that he was borneof the soldiersfor the violence of the people.

For the multitude of the people followed after , crying , Away with him.

And as Paul was to beledinto the castle, he said unto the chief captain,May*Ispeak*untothee*? Whosaid , Canst thou speakGreek?
