Andall the city was moved , and the people ran together* : and they tookPaul, and drewhim out of the temple:andforthwith the doors were shut .

And as they went about to killhim,tidingscame unto the chief captain of the band,thatallJerusalem was in an uproar .

Whoimmediatelytooksoldiersandcenturions, and ran downuntothem:and when they saw the chief captainand the soldiers, they leftbeating of Paul.

Then the chief captain came near , and tookhim,andcommanded him to be bound withtwochains;anddemandedwho he was* , andwhat he haddone .

Andsomecried one thing, some another,among the multitude:and when he couldnotknow the certaintyfor the tumult, he commandedhim to be carriedinto the castle.

Andwhen he cameupon the stairs, so it was , that he was borneof the soldiersfor the violence of the people.

For the multitude of the people followed after , crying , Away with him.

And as Paul was to beledinto the castle, he said unto the chief captain,May*Ispeak*untothee*? Whosaid , Canst thou speakGreek?

ArtnotthouthatEgyptian, which beforethesedays madest an uproar , and leddest outinto the wilderness four thousandmen that were murderers?

ButPaulsaid , Iam* a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of nomeancity:and, I beseechthee,sufferme to speakunto the people.
