Salmi 11:2-7

2 Certo, ecco gli empi hanno teso l’arco, Hanno accoccate le lor saette in su la corda, Per tirarle contro a’ diritti di cuore, in luogo scuro.

3 Quando i fondamenti son ruinati, Che ha fatto il giusto?

4 Il Signore è nel Tempio della sua santità; Il trono del Signore è ne’ cieli; I suoi occhi veggono, Le sue palpebre esaminano i figliuoli degli uomini.

5 Il Signore esamina il giusto, e l’empio; E l’anima sua odia colui che ama la violenza.

6 Egli farà piovere in su gli empi Brace, e fuoco, e solfo, E vento tempestoso, per la porzione del lor calice.

7 Perciocchè il Signore è giusto; egli ama la giustizia; La sua faccia riguarda l’uomo diritto.

Salmi 11:2-7 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, a Psalm of David. The word "sheminith" is used in the title of Psalm 6:1, and signifies "eighth"; and intends either the eighth note, to which the psalm was sung, or rather the harp of eight chords, to which it was set, as the Targum and Jarchi interpret it. Some Jewish writers {y} understand it of the times of the Messiah; and the Syriac version entitles the psalm, "an accusation of the wicked, and a prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah:" and the Arabic version says, it is concerning the end of the world, which shall be in the eighth day; and concerning the coming of the Messiah: but Arnobius interprets it of the Lord's day.
