Psalm 32; Psalm 51; Psalm 86; Psalm 122

1 (31-1) <To David himself, understanding.> Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 2 (31-2) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin, and in whose spirit there is no guile. 3 (31-3) Because I was silent my bones grew old; whilst I cried out all the day long. 4 (31-4) For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: I am turned in my anguish, whilst the thorn is fastened. 5 (31-5) I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against my self my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin. 6 (31-6) For this shall every one that is holy pray to thee in a seasonable time. And yet in a flood of many waters, they shall not come nigh unto him. 7 (31-7) Thou art my refuge from the trouble which hath encompassed me: my joy, deliver me from them that surround me. 8 (31-8) I will give thee understanding, and I will instruct thee in this way, in which thou shalt go: I will fix my eyes upon thee. 9 (31-9) Do not become like the horse and the mule, who have no understanding. With bit and bridle bind fast their jaws, who come not near unto thee. 10 (31-10) Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encompass him that hopeth in the Lord. 11 (31-11) Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye just, and glory, all ye right of heart.
1 (50-1) <Unto the end, a psalm of David, (50-2) When Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had sinned with Bethsabee.> (50-3) Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity. 2 (50-4) Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 (50-5) For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. 4 (50-6) To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words, and mayst overcome when thou art judged. 5 (50-7) For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me. 6 (50-8) For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me. 7 (50-9) Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. 8 (50-10) To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice. 9 (50-11) Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10 (50-12) Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bowels. 11 (50-13) Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 (50-14) Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit. 13 (50-15) I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee. 14 (50-16) Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice. 15 (50-17) O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: and my mouth shall declare thy praise. 16 (50-18) For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted. 17 (50-19) A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 18 (50-20) Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up. 19 (50-21) Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.
1 (85-1) <A prayer for David himself.> Incline thy ear, O Lord, and hear me: for I am needy and poor. 2 (85-2) Preserve my soul, for I am holy: save thy servant, O my God, that trusteth in thee. 3 (85-3) Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I have cried to thee all the day. 4 (85-4) Give joy to the soul of thy servant, for to thee, O Lord, I have lifted up my soul. 5 (85-5) For thou, O Lord, art sweet and mild: and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee. 6 (85-6) Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer: and attend to the voice of my petition. 7 (85-7) I have called upon thee in the day of my trouble: because thou hast heard me. 8 (85-8) There is none among the gods like unto thee, O Lord: and there is none according to thy works. 9 (85-9) All the nations thou hast made shall come and adore before thee, O Lord: and they shall glorify thy name. 10 (85-10) For thou art great and dost wonderful things: thou art God alone. 11 (85-11) Conduct me, O Lord, in thy way, and I will walk in thy truth: let my heart rejoice that it may fear thy name. 12 (85-12) I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify thy name for ever: 13 (85-13) For thy mercy is great towards me: and thou hast delivered my soul out of the lower hell. 14 (85-14) O God, the wicked are risen up against me, and the assembly of the mighty have sought my soul: and they have not set thee before their eyes. 15 (85-15) And thou, O Lord, art a God of compassion, and merciful, patient, and of much mercy, and true. 16 (85-16) O look upon me, and have mercy on me: give thy command to thy servant, and save the son of thy handmaid. 17 (85-17) Shew me a token for good: that they who hate me may see, and be confounded, because thou, O Lord, hast helped me and hast comforted me.
1 (121-1) <A gradual canticle.> 2 (121-1) (121-2) Our feet were standing in thy courts, O Jerusalem. 3 (121-3) Jerusalem, which is built as a city, which is compact together. 4 (121-4) For thither did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord: the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord. 5 (121-5) Because their seats have sat in judgment, seats upon the house of David. 6 (121-6) Pray ye for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem: and abundance for them that love thee. 7 (121-7) Let peace be in thy strength: and abundance in thy towers. 8 (121-8) For the sake of my brethren, and of my neighbours, I spoke peace of thee. 9 (121-9) Because of the house of the Lord our God, I have sought good things for thee.
