1 Peter 2:18-23 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect,1 not only to those who are good and considerate,2 but also to those who are harsh. 19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.3 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.4 21 To this5 you were called,6 because Christ suffered for you,7 leaving you an example,8 that you should follow in his steps. 22 "He committed no sin,9 and no deceit was found in his mouth."a10 23 When they hurled their insults at him,11 he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats.12 Instead, he entrusted himself13 to him who judges justly.14
