1 Peter 3:17-22 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
17 It is better, if it is God's will,1 to suffer for doing good2 than for doing evil. 18 For Christ died for sins3 once for all,4 the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.5 He was put to death in the body6 but made alive by the Spirit,7 19 through whoma also he went and preached to the spirits in prison8 20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently9 in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.10 In it only a few people, eight in all,11 were saved12 through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you13 also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledgeb of a good conscience14 toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,15 22 who has gone into heaven16 and is at God's right hand17--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.18
