The man said to Eli, "I am the one who came from the battle line. Indeed, I escaped from the battle line today." And he said, "How did things go, my son?"

Und der Mann sprach zu Eli: Ich bin der, welcher aus der Schlachtordnung gekommen ist, und ich bin heute aus der Schlachtordnung geflohen. Und er sprach: Wie stand die Sache, mein Sohn?

And the man said to Eli, "I am the [one] who has come from the battle line! I have fled today from the battle line!" And he said, "{What exactly happened}, my son?"

L'homme dit à Eli: J'arrive du champ de bataille, et c'est du champ de bataille que je me suis enfui aujourd'hui. Eli dit: Que s'est-il passé, mon fils?

L'homme dit donc à Héli: C'est moi qui viens de la bataille; et je me suis échappé de la bataille aujourd'hui. Et Héli dit: Qu'est-il arrivé, mon fils?

En die man zeide tot Eli: Ik ben het, die uit de slagorden kom, en ik ben heden uit de slagorden gevloden. Hij dan zeide: Wat is er geschied, mijn zoon?

And the man said to Eli, I am he that came from the battle, and I am he that fled today from the battle array. To whom Eli said, My son, what is there done? (My son, what is done there?)

And the man saith unto Eli, `I [am] he who hath come out of the ranks, and I out of the ranks have fled to-day;' and he saith, `What hath been the matter, my son?'
