8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life : 17 When I therefore was thus minded , did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose , do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? 13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written , I believed , and therefore have I spoken ; we also believe , and therefore speak ; 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3 For to their power, I bear record , yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; 8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. 1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. 13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. 15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased , that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly , 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 17 That which I speak , I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly , in this confidence of boasting. 18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also. 21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak . Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold , (I speak foolishly ,) I am bold also. 28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily , the care of all the churches. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 10 Therefore I write these things being absent , lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
