Isaiah 44:21-28 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
21 "Remember1 these things, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel.2 I have made you, you are my servant;3 O Israel, I will not forget you.4 22 I have swept away5 your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return6 to me, for I have redeemed7 you." 23 Sing for joy,8 O heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, O earth9 beneath. Burst into song, you mountains,10 you forests and all your trees,11 for the LORD has redeemed12 Jacob, he displays his glory13 in Israel.

Jerusalem to Be Inhabited

24 "This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer,14 who formed15 you in the womb:16 I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens,17 who spread out the earth18 by myself, 25 who foils19 the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners,20 who overthrows the learning of the wise21 and turns it into nonsense,22 26 who carries out the words23 of his servants and fulfills24 the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem,25 'It shall be inhabited,' of the towns of Judah, 'They shall be built,' and of their ruins,26 'I will restore them,'27 27 who says to the watery deep, 'Be dry, and I will dry up28 your streams,' 28 who says of Cyrus,29 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem,30 "Let it be rebuilt," and of the temple,31 "Let its foundations32 be laid."
