But Zion1 said, "The LORD has forsaken2 me, the Lord has forgotten me."
"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child3 she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!416
See, I have engraved5 you on the palms of my hands; your walls6 are ever before me.
Your children hasten back, and those who laid you waste7 depart from you.
Lift up your eyes and look around; all your children gather8 and come to you. As surely as I live,9" declares the LORD, "you will wear10 them all as ornaments; you will put them on, like a bride.
"Though you were ruined and made desolate11 and your land laid waste,12 now you will be too small for your people,13 and those who devoured14 you will be far away.
The children born during your bereavement will yet say in your hearing, 'This place is too small for us; give us more space to live in.'1521
Then you will say in your heart, 'Who bore me these?16 I was bereaved17 and barren; I was exiled and rejected.18 Who brought these19 up? I was left20 all alone,21 but these--where have they come from?' "
This is what the Sovereign LORD22 says: "See, I will beckon to the nations, I will lift up my banner23 to the peoples; they will bring24 your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their hips.2523
Kings26 will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers.27 They will bow down28 before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust29 at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD;30 those who hope31 in me will not be disappointed.32"
Can plunder be taken from warriors,33 or captives be rescued from the fiercea ?
But this is what the LORD says: "Yes, captives34 will be taken from warriors,35 and plunder retrieved from the fierce;36 I will contend with those who contend with you,3738 and your children I will save.3926
I will make your oppressors40 eat41 their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood,42 as with wine. Then the whole human race will know43 that I, the LORD, am your Savior,44 your Redeemer,45 the Mighty One of Jacob.46"
